JESUS AND RELATIONSHIPS

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

There is no doubt that Jesus dealt quite a lot with relationships, but these relationships went way past just the man/woman relationships we may think of whenever we use the term because Christ was here to deal with relationship we have with every aspect of our lives  Jesus spoke about relationships all the way from our behavior toward each other from murder, offerings, adultery; divorce, oaths that we may take to revenge.  We all know how powerful some relationships can be like those between a mother and child, and yet we are called to be even closer to our Father in Heaven that that relationship.  Once again we call on our physical experiences to try to understand God's mind and heart and keep forgetting that His ways and thoughts are far
above our own.  The creators love for His creation  is much more than we can comprehend, but even at that point God has placed a greater value upon us as His crowning achievement of His work to create in His own likeness a being that He can call His own child.

We are being taught by our churches today to believe what they tell us is the truth.  It is much like the news media of today trying to slant what we hear toward a particular point of view and thought process.  That was the problem with those who taught the law of Moses in Jesus day of ministry. It is always much easier to study God's word and tell others to obey them than to put those words into practice within our own lives.  That is the whole problem with our belief in Christ today; are we putting anything we say into a practical application for our own lives, or are we simply spouting words at the word around us?  Jesus chose 12 men to mentor in His ministry for a reason.  To try and actually mentor more than that at a time is almost impossible because of the dynamics of human nature being in competition with one another.  Self  will is very difficult to deal with in loving anyone else other than self.  The only saving grace that we have is the ability to have a part of God's Spirit abiding within us so that He might be there at all times to teach and guide us.

The very process of submission to God is to lay down that self will and allow Him to mentor us in the necessary life transition we need of mind and heart to grow and bear fruit.  No matter what kind of relationship we enter into self plays a tremendous role in its success.  It is easy to see the difference when step away from relationships that are self based or which are service based.  It requires an attitude of true love to serve one another with an open heart like Jesus did when He washed His disciples feet.  Jesus words to us " Anyone who would be a king among you much first be a servant" still resonates today in our relationships. Paul has told us through the power of the Holy Spirit that we must present ourselves as living sacrifices which are Holy and acceptable in the sight of God which is our reasonable service.  The process of teaching others about Jesus is that of mentoring which means we have to live that life out in front of this world as He did, and then let the power of His Holy Spirit draw people unto Himself.  We will pick up next time with what Jesus said about emotions.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
