COMING BACK TO THE BASICS OF JESUS

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

Today more than ever I feel the sense of tremendous need to bring those who will hear me back to the basics of Jesus Christ, and what it is that He said and taught His disciples.  The reason for this return to these basic things is because of some of what I am hearing as I travel around from church to church in this community.

I must say that for the most part what we are being taught is correct, it is just not complete.  I have long stopped teaching and preaching the doctrines of the many different churches that dot our community.  The fact that not one of these churches is actually willing to submit to what Christ spoke of is enough for me to not follow any denomination.  Instead of following something that has been written down for me to memorize and spit out as an answer to what I believe I prefer to look and study what Jesus said about the mission that the Father sent Him on, and as I do that I want to try to lay down the truth and the complete principals of what He taught without the trappings of any of the churches creeds and doctrines being involved at all.  I am afraid I will be leaving out much of what the disciples taught as well for the reasons that what they were dealing with mostly was the fires started by the philosophies and teachings of men in the first place.  They were very busy trying to get people to follow what Jesus Christ taught them, and I find it necessary to do the same thing at this point and time with you who follow Christ as well.

Jesus preach from the time He began His ministry "TO REPENT, FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS AT HAND" .  The first thing Jesus told us was that we needed to repent and turn around from what we had been doing; to change the ways we were looking at life, and turn to God for the answers.
He then immediately started to look for men whom He could share this concept with.  The first thing that Jesus taught them was that they needed to be one with each other as Jesus was one with them and one with the Father.  Jesus went to the very places where He had always gone; which was in the synagogues to speak to the people who claimed to know God.  He brought with Him the healing power of God's Spirit so that the people might believe that God had indeed sent Him.  Jesus doing miracles of healing was not used as a statement to people that if they followed Him they could do the same things He did, but rather a means to get people to come to hear the good news that God had sent Him to preach.  In fact no where do I find the gift of miracles given to simply heal people for no reason.  Even the gifts that were later on betowed to the Apostles and to the church in Acts were given for the direct purpose of drawing others to hear the truth, and not as a display of "LOOK WHAT I CAN DO!"  Dear ones Jesus did nothing without the direction of God's Spirit within Him.

That is why Jesus was in prayer most of the time during His ministry.  He even found from time to time that He had to get away from His disciples so that He could devote more time to prayer and getting direct teaching from God's Spirit as to what to do next.  I think what we find more than anything else is that Jesus spent the majority of His time as a man trying to submit Himself to God's will and to the working of God's Spirit in His life as a man.  When we see Jesus in the beginning of His ministry in Matthew 4:17-25 He was drawing people to Him so that the first message that He spoke could be heard.  Before He officially said anything to this world He drew people together from every walk of life to hear the same message from God the Father.  Then Jesus began to change everything that men had built up around them to find comfort in and to build their lives upon.  We must realize two things about what Jesus said: 1. God has given us a plan of truth and justice that is completely fair for all men.  2. We must submit to that plan if we are to have any kind of real relationship with God.  Up until that time men had thought that being God's chosen people meant that only they had God's ear. God is now choosing a new covenant with us that will destroy the hold of the original sin from Adam and Eve that has lead to the death of man.  He has now chosen to be a perfect sacrifice of a part of Himself for us, but we are only able to access that gift of love through the one whom God has sent to us as the Messiah Jesus Christ.  I hope that part makes sense to you because we have all heard that part of things, and for the most part all churches have gotten that part right.  There are some issues however that need to be made clear to some.  Last week I began to deal with some of those things, but as we continue in this series of studies I want to make it clear that for some there are problems in understanding the word from this very beginning.  Those things need to be cleared up.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
