THE STRENGTH OF OUR WILL TO BELIEVE
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
This marks the second week that I have dealt with the teachings of Jesus on the issues of our need for the aid of God's Spirit to both maintain and grow in our faith. It certainly appears to me that we as the church are in deep need of finding more of the Holy Spirit in our everyday walk in life. We must be strong in our desire to maintain a relationship with God. Ever since we started talking about the aspects of what Jesus explained to be the center of our strength in growing within the power of God's Spirit ; which is the gift of direct communication with God through prayer we have been moving toward His idea of being one with God.
True belief in God takes courage because we must be moved from the safety of the understanding and acceptance of the world around us into a place where we are not only misunderstood, but rejected by others whom we may be always thought were closest to us. The tiger is a good example of that strength because it lives by its own strength and wile in a world that is largely an adversary. Our allegiance must be first to our God and Father for growth and for our protection in this life, because we are not made to survive here among the lions and tigers of this world without God's hand of protection.
Each one of us in the decisions we make about God in our life are taking a courageous step in saying that we not only believe in Christ but that we are placing our complete existence in His promises to us. We are making a choice to become alienated from a world that we have grown comfortable with and understand, and to place our trust in a promise made to us by our creator. That takes courage and a strength that for the most part we do not have on our own. As mankind we have to make that choice as to whom we shall believe above all else just like Jesus as a man had to make the decision to serve only God. He could not have made that stand without the power of God's Spirit within Him to withstand the temptations of evil that He went through. His love for God above all else is demonstrated in His trip to the Cross for our benefit. That took great courage and a foreknowledge that He could not have had without that close communication with the Father through the power of the Holy Spirit. That is the same communication that Jesus directs us to have with God, and He has demonstrated it for us. Even more now as a human we have His word that we can recall and meditate upon. We have an opportunity to allow God to speak to us through the word that He has given us if we will only take the time to let Him speak it to us in our heart. It does take strength and courage for us to follow Christ, but not more strength or courage than God will give usif we allow Him to transform our lives. It is my prayer for you that you will allow God to begin that transformation within you...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
