PRAYER AND MEDITATION

| Prayer is a meditation of the heart given to God only through the depths of our soul |
One of the basic driving forces in my life has always been centered around my communication with God through the power of His Spirit. Just like so many other things between myself and God I have grown , learn ed and changed my mind in some of the areas that I thought I already knew when it comes down to the basic ways I have prayed or I have used meditation in my life. One of those areas I have learn ed from was the real purpose of prayer between myself and God. I have gone from an attitude of constantly coming to the Father to get something from Him that I felt I needed to an idea of actually coming to Him for opinions or guidance for my life. Just as any small child begins to learn to communicate with their parents verbally we need to learn how to speak clearly and well formed thoughts to our Father.
I found the need to take the time to get my thoughts together for any conversation I wanted to have with the Father instead of always coming up with the same thing over and over. I realized that just as any child gets older they eventually need to lose the baby talk and start to form decent conversations.
Taking the time to meditate on what I need to speak with God about helps me to have a better idea of what it is that I really do need when I ask for something; but even more it puts me on a more mature attitude with my conversations with God. The truth is that after I have taken the time to meditate for a while my mind is better able to understand what God's will probably is for me even before I come into His presence in prayer. While I may not have my mind always on God I have often found that God always has His mind on me. Meditation helps me to better be present in that conversation and willing to listen to what He is telling me. I find that I am better able to be led by His Spirit to find a part of God's word to help me understand what He is saying to me; and I find that I am much more open to receiving His instruction and word for my life after I meditate.
Our lives are formed through a series of transformations in our mind and heart that change us and make us ready to fit into His Kingdom, but it is not a simple thing or an over night process...sometimes it takes a whole lifetime. Jesus constantly gave us examples of going somewhere undisturbed to spend time in meditation and prayer. Many times He would pray all night long alone with just the presence of the Father and the Spirit. It is time in this age that we start to get much more serious about prayer in our lives too. The days are growing short indeed before there will be no more time to prepare for His coming, and believe me we need to be ready. During this time we can learn many things from the witness that Jesus gave to us. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
