LISTENING WITH THE HEART

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

I find that I cannot sleep again and all of this life runs through my mind.  There are repairs and maintenance needed on the house, and projects which need to be done and yet I have never done anything like that in the past.  Tonight I got up at about 1:00 a.m. and started reading my how too books on all of this.  I realized that all along I have had information that allowed me to be able to do the work I have needed and wanted to do...it is just that I have not had the motivation to do the work.  I also realized something else spiritually...people in general do not want to do the work that is related to growth in their souls, and so like me with the physical things that have so long needed to be done they have not done the things I have always thought were important.  In truth for all of there is a desperate need for a balance in life.

We may think that the activity we create around us is fooling God as he watches us but He knows the difference between looking busy and being productive.  Our hearts often betray us in that we want to do something for God and at the same time we obstruct God from really working through us in the way He has designed us to.  There seems to be an uncomfortable shuffling of things going on between us and God as we try to position ourselves in the center of His will.  The truth is we should not be the ones moving around at all, but God should be moving us to the places that He wants to use us.  It becomes a very different perspective for us to keep ourselves ready to be used at all times and yet not to take on the task of use outside of the will of God. Many times God has to come behind us and tear down what we have tried to build up without His hand in it, and that is very disappointing to us.  It makes us to feel that we have failed God in some way and yet it proves even more that we cannot  understand the perfection of His ways.

When God is ready to use us He will pick us up in His own time to use us, and our real job is to fit very well into His hand...to be as cleaned and ready as we can be to be used, and willing to do what ever work needed to be done without grumbling or complaining.  As we begin to listen to our Lord with our heart we will see things spiritually that we never noticed before.  We will start to see things through God's eyes that have alluded us as a physical person looking at things through the eyes of this world.  "Let he that has ears to hear, and eyes to see listen with his heart"  It is this spiritual way of looking at God's work through us to the world that will change us into new creatures prepared for the Kingdom of Heaven.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
