A SIMPLE OBSERVATION
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
The ministry has changed over the many years that I have been working as a servant of God. In some cases it is hard to tell the old Churches I grew up in from those of today. I grew up in the Bible Belt areas of Southern Illinois, and the fervor for going to church was so ingrained in the people that church was every Sunday morning and Sunday Night...plus on Wednesday nights for bible study. There was always a lot of activity in the church, but the preacher was the one who was paid to really be the religious one...not the people.
Today the look has changed, and certainly as I spend time in Wisconsin the styles have changed. Sunday morning is about all that you will ever get out of folks up here with an occasional day of the week spent in a meeting if they are really one fire for God. I have found that it isn't going to a church that counts anyway, but it is living for Christ during the week as well as on a Sunday morning. Instead of getting disappointed in what I see here I would much rather teach people what a real relationship with Jesus is all about, and so we teach the words of Christ alone. The interesting thing is that most people start out thinking that they know what Jesus said about everything because the basis of the Good News is very simple. It is never until they begin to take the word of God apart that they find how much more there is to it than they thought there was. The problem is and always has been in getting people to come to that kind of study group because they just don't want to think that much about God.
I have learned to simply teach those whom God sends to me each week {which are not many}, and try to get them something they can use to grow with. It is funny to me how many people end up more in a counseling session than a bible study. I think that is because people need much more (rubber meets the Road) stuff than they think. In many ways what we do during the week resembles more of a missionary field than it does a bible study group for that very reason. I don't know where it is that you are located as you read these blogs...it may be in a new location, or far away from the Wisconsin boarders...you may not even be in the U.S.A. but our Lord is the same where ever we are and so are the problems that we all have in living out the Gospel. I want to welcome those of you who will to write to me through my Face book pages and messaging with Questions that I can help you answer. As we get closer to the end of this year I will be dealing with some new topics. We will look at the title NOT A FAN and we will discover together what that may mean to you. It may surprise you just how many ways we can look at that three word statement, and how many things we can uncover in our lives.
Would you consider writing some thing to me? Give me your opinion and allow God to use you to peek some others interest...even perhaps to give one another hope and help in Christ. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
