IS BEING BUSY BEING PRODUCTIVE?
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
Have you ever started a day out with the "peddle to the medal" and then finding that you have accomplished a lot less than you had intended? I do that a lot and therefore have to stop during my day and reset my mind to what God is telling e to accomplish instead of what I want to get done.
This world causes us to operate under a kind of false sense that being busy means that we are being productive. It seems to be the same way we feel about resting being linked with laziness. I have begun to see the times when God wants to use me as being times when I am "ON CALL" to be ready to do His will, and the times when He isn't using me as being a time of preparation to be used. God is the one who is in control of my life...He is not an on and off switch that is used when I want to show my faith. I become compelled to serve out of a deep love for God within me that causes me not to be able to turn service for God off. The best I can hope for is to be on stand by until God calls me to do a work for Him, and even then it is Him actually working through me , and not me alone.
I could be busy 24/7 without any effort, and yet rather than looking busy I allow myself to be laid down by God's hand for a few days and weeks until there is a different job to be done. In the time that I am not being used I am in preparation to be used by sharpening my studies and in prayer over what I should be looking at for the future. In this way I can stay within His will for my life without interfering who the work that He is using other tools for within the body. I never worry about my role within the church because there are so many directions I am used in by the Spirit of God that I never really know what I will be doing from day to day.
The question is whether your production is from the Holy Spirit or is it just a busy kind of production that you initiate in life to cause others to think you are busy? There are many of us who produce fruit of the Spirit in life, but who are also continuously being pruned so we can bear more...yet we don't understand why. It may come down to who you are working for...you or God. This is an area that I really had to begin to look at for my own life over the last few years. I found that prayer and meditation helps us to hear God's voice to us more clearly { that simply means to stop working and being busy long enough to listen}. We all know the great need that is out there, but we must prompt more people to help in the work done. It is really kind of sad to see so many people who do so little
( Human nature they say)...but for me it is more than that; it becomes a hindrance to our Spiritual growth, and we need more growth in all of us. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
