GETTING DOWN TO WHERE THE RUBBER MEETS THE ROAD
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
My Father used a term for getting serious about something as "now let's get down to where the rubber meets the road". I have to admit that the closer we get to the new year I am reminded of the need for Christians to get more serious than ever about their faith.
We have spent most of our lives simply taking the spiritual fruit that falls on the ground in front of us as a way to achieve spiritual growth in our lives, but I fear we have been seriously underfed as the church for quite some time now. Whenever we start to rely upon the wisdom of other men alone without putting our own time and energy into seeking after God on a personal level we run the danger of malnutrition spiritually. No matter how much we may love the teaching of a leader or minister we should always seek after God in a way that personally draws us closer to Him. We have now for a long time relied on someone else to do our reading and our praying for us rather than take the time and energy to build our own relationship with God.
I can remember hearing people say " That's why we have Ministers...they are hired to do those things" as if there were some kind of proxy for our own responsibilities in Christ. As I have grown up as a Christian I have learned that there isn't any easy way to get around a relationship with God; you either have one or you do not! That is what makes our relationship so personal because we are the ones involved. We cannot have just pen pal relationship where everything is mailed in or where someone else has been appointed our high priest like we find in the Old Testament customs. We are now responsible for our own accountability and actions taken through Christ as our Savior. Jesus had a hard time with people who sought to take the easy way or who set themselves up as " An Authority" on knowing what everyone else around them should do to know God. Mark 12:38-40 shows His great disdain for those who allow others to look on themselves as special among men because we are all servants of the same Lord. We are being used right now as a voice which cries out to those who will listen to " Get down to where the rubber meets the road" on the subject of a personal walk with God today. The Church is starting to change through the movement of God's hand. He is beginning to expose those things that we have all been doing to hide our various sins in plain sight. As time goes on we will be bringing more to the surface to deal with, but for now, we need to deal with our own relationship problems with God, and what we need to do to fix them. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
