THE WRITING OF YOUR LIFE CHAPTER 1
There are many subjects out there to cover with this idea, but I would like to get us to think for a moment of our life being written as a story, and with us being the author. There is
any number of ways to write a life, and the twists and turns taken in any life, and the choices we make and the decisions lived out often are what make the life we live either a good or a bad story. Our lives can be very dramatic, or adventurous; boring or empty depending on what we are willing to put into it.
We all start with the same things just like a blank piece of paper that needs color and character in the form of words and deeds. This all comes to us in experiences we have along the way. These people and places we experience will no doubt become the storyline used for the background to build up our dreams and goals in life, but not all of these will be equal. Some will start out good and turn bad because of our own attitudes and wasted opportunities while others will start out bad with very small hope for success, and then turn into stories of great encouragement and testimony.
Each of these lives is written with a beginning, middle and an ending which can be sculpted along the way by the experiences and the people we are influenced by. It is our own self-will that dictates where we go for that influence, and whether or not we are looking for truth that will shed real light on the positive or negative things we experience or perhaps seeking to find approval for what we are presently doing. This can be true no matter what our lifestyle may be because there are many Christians who are living in the same kinds of problems as those living outside of Christ. What are we writing about as far as our lives are concerned? Is it a Fantasy story we are developing or is it a story of reality that we seek to tell? Who is the main character in your story, and who are the cast of characters written within it? As we seek to understand the storyline and try to find out more about the main character there are different things that are thrown in the mix along the way; things like the influence of good or bad upon our life and just who it is that has developed from those experiences. We are never the same people tomorrow that we are today because of the ever-changing things that this life throws at us so we need a stabilizing factor that we can always count on as we take the pen in hand. The good or bad/ life or death of our lives is still being written and is still being influenced by what happens to us, and in what ways we choose to react to it. Each of us has the dynamic of Jesus Christ to use in making these choices. We can use that guiding light as a tool or as a hindrance in making choices as we write the lines of our story. Our story is never determined by a page or a paragraph but is written a sentence and a word at a time. We have to keep this truth in front of us because our story can change at the last few lines. Is it life or death, victory or defeat; pain or comfort? Many of us who have refused to write ourselves need to realize that we all will have a story written and that we may have a ghostwriter involved...who might that be for you? May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
