REMODELING YOUR LIFE/ THE DEMOLITION STAGE #3

Greetings in the name of Christ:

Demolition is among the most difficult things to deal with in our lives because of how traumatic it is for us.  Change is among the greatest stressors we can go through as humans,  and as the change in our lives increases because of the introduction of Christ as Lord of our lives, there will be a marked increase in the rejection of this world to our new relationship with God.

Even without great biblical knowledge, we can follow Jesus in His example of building off of a firm foundation, and the same is true when we begin a process of stripping away those things that have been covering our life with the decor of this world.  If we start this process then comes a matter of how deep and how far do we take this process until we are able to be completely honest with God and with ourselves.  I have come to realize that even though all things are forgiven by my God there are still a few things in my life I have not dealt with, and I don't know if I will ever have the strength within me to deal with.  The question remains how deep are you willing to dig and how many walls and corridors are you willing to expose before you can have an open relationship with God?

I am not talking about a perfect relationship with God for the simple reason that none of us has a perfect relationship with Him at this point. Sin is always a factor in our lives here no matter how hard we may strive to rid ourselves of it. "The things I would do are the things I don't do, and the very things I would not do are the things I do"  This has been a plague on Christians from the start as Paul told us, but in many ways when we release those things within us that are too much for us to handle God will increase our strength 100 fold to be able to give witness and testimony to who He is in us.

It is important that you also realize that this word is not given to just those who are outside of Christ and are looking for a way to find Him, but for those of us who still are in a position of trying to build a relationship with Christ in an honest way.  Whenever we begin a project of remodeling the old view that we have may look clean and together.  It is when we swing that first hammer or knock through the first walls we have built before that we start to find those surprises that we may have forgotten we put there or the new problems that have arisen because of some we left uncorrected.  No matter what the issues are when we break open the wall we must then bring everything up to code.  There have been many in Christ who found the need to tear most; if not all of the things down in their beliefs to get back to the foundations of faith that God has given them.  It may mean that we have to chip away at the very things we had been taught growing up as a child as we compare the words of Christ to the doctrines of faith we have always clung to.  Over time I have had many times when I had to revisit those things that I was solidly believing in when I came across a scripture that I could not explain away, or which clearly opened the word to a more excellent understanding of God's word. Paul instructed the Corinthians to go back to the milk of the word and study for themselves the foundations because they were unable to take on the meat of God's word for their lives.

We may well have to lose some of what we have been comfortable with when we start to allow God to control the remodeling of who we are, but we know that much that we lose has stood between us and God and has been used many times to keep us at an arm's length from His will for us.  What about the new materials we use to build with?  It is time to find the best quality of our lives for both strength and beauty.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
