WHEN WE GET CLOSE TO GOD THE WORLD PULLS AWAY

Greetings in Jesus:

Whenever I have made the choice to walk with God on a deeper level I have always found that the world, in general, pulls farther away from me.  For those who have listened to the still small voice within them, they will find there is never a time when God has ever said "OK THAT'S CLOSE ENOUGH" and if they do it is never God speaking.

The single most important thing I have experienced God wanting in my life is for me to always be drawn closer to Him.  In fact, the greatest push that is made by the teachings of Jesus deals with being one with Christ as He is one with God. That great desire of unity has never changed in God's heart as we grow in Christ.  The very seed that Jesus sowed within our hearts has been meant to bring us into a state of unity, and that will always happen as long as we listen to the words of Christ instead of the doctrines of men.  In Luke 8;15-17 we find Jesus referring to the parable of the sower, the candle that should not be placed underneath a basket so it cannot give its light, and the fact that truth will never ultimately be hidden because it will come to the surface at some point in life.

We know why the truth was given to us by Christ was to deliver the Good News of a New Covenant given to us through the sacrifice of Christ for all sin, but even with that gift is the necessity for us to believe that what God and Jesus have told us about that news.  The news was to give us hope and unity with God through Christ, but we had to follow the direction and leadership of Christ through our transformation spiritually.  This good news works perfectly as long as we follow God's perfect plan of prayer, meditation, and obedience to the instructions that Jesus has given to us, however the minute we fall from that plan and begin to adopt the ideas of men we start to fail.  This world will be happy to still draw near to us if we try to conform God's commands to our own set of made up rules, and we will very likely be able to find several who are willing to follow our own set of rules.  This world will not conform to God's commands, however, because this world is not ruled by God; nor does God really care that much for this physical space; He could recreate this with a simple word.

What God does not want to lose is the crowning achievement of His creation which is you and me for our spirit has been created in His image.  It will not be until we understand that God is not returning to redeem us physically but rather spiritually that we can finally get a real grasp of what our relationship should be with God.  As much as we would like to bring God down to a level we feel comfortable with, and understand better we will always be forced to lift our standards to His demands for us and not ours.  It is this constant drawing of our spirits to God that causes this world to reject us because the natural world cannot understand spiritual things.  The Spirit of God is foolishness to the physical mind of men, and they not only will not understand it; they cannot understand it because these spiritual things are hidden from this world because of sin that governs it.

We are the light of this world, and we were created to be so.  It is by our example to one another that this light is shown to a physical world.  In a way, we are meant to take this world by the hand and lead them to understand that a life in God is worth the time and the effort to look into, and then we must allow God's Spirit to draw those who are willing to listen to the Father.  We must realize that our goal is not to save this world any more than God is coming back to save our physical bodies.  We are being prepared to go from this place and live with God who will create a new, complete and perfect place for us.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
