DOES GOD REALLY HAVE A JOB FOR ME TO DO?
Greetings in Jesus:
It is unfortunate that the great majority of people within the church today have no clue as to what God desires for their life. Many of us continue to be drawn by the power of God's Spirit and yet when it comes down to asking in a serious way what God wants from us it is rare to find anyone responding to that ever increasing call for labourers to work in the field that already "white unto harvest". What is the most interesting is that Christians in general shy away from the term ministry when referring to themselves because they do not want to be drawn in to that kind of life and attitude more so than they can control.
My question is then "Do we think that God has a job for us to do here?" Once again most people would say YES! we do think that God has a plan and wants for us to do something, the who and the what always tend to fall on someone else; not upon us. The kind of work that God is asking from us is not a deliberate effort that a 9-5 kind of work, but rather an attitude adjustment made about how we are demonstrating to this world who Jesus Christ really is to us. That kind of witness and testimony is seen in how we react and what our priorities are in a public setting. It has to do with how we greet one another, prayer in a public place, and many of the things demonstrated that we say we believe in and yet never practice personally in our lives. The question was asked "If someone accused you of being a Christian could you be convicted in a court of law?" When we think about that statement I can't help but wonder how many of us would be in danger of a conviction?
I believe that God will always have work for us, but I don't think it is the kind of job that we could think of as being real work, but rather simply showing this world the change that God has brought about within our hearts as we grow to trust in His word, and allow His Spirit to do His work in us. Today is the best time for us to really begin the process of finding out what God wants from us as we wake up and ask Him "What adventure are we going on today Father?" Everyday of my life I can truly say I have no idea what God has in store for me next. Even as I write these words the next sentence has yet to be given to me by my Lord because He writes as I type. Our need to control and manipulate things around us is highly over rated when it comes to the power and ppeace that God gives those who will dare to trust in Him. God uses very ordinary people in very miraculous ways when it comes to His desire for the work we do. Instead of what we think of work as being it may come down to a handshake or a kind word given in the right place and time. It may simply be by our being open to a word of encouragement or a kind gesture on our part that God will open up another life to be drawn closer to Him. How often are we in a situation where our attitude can change someone elses day? The next time we think about "Does God have a job for me to do?" perhaps we can remember this discussion. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
