FINDING OUT MY PURPOSE
Greetings in Jesus:
For most of my life, I have found myself looking for my purpose and trying to determine just what my calling has been in Christ. On several occasions, I thought I knew just what I was going to do, but at first, I was confused and misdirected by life in general because of a great interest in so much that could not make my mind up. I tried to dabble in all that I loved, and while I came close to success I was too distracted by this world to find any real success in anything.
After I started to get serious about my relationship with God and begin to study and meditate upon His word I found that the Holy Spirit Himself began to lead and to teach me the meaning of what I was reading and meditating on. Being in a classroom situation with God is completely different than anything I have ever understood before because it consists of life, and mistakes. It has little to do with the ability to comprehend material in a book and then spit it back out on paper. I have found that is the worlds way of teaching information without substance, but God's Spirit teaches us through a mentoring process much the same ways as a trade was taught young people in early history. With that sort of education, we learn by working with life situations. The young carpenter worked with wood and learned by doing different jobs. The quality of workmanship done also developed the character of the person doing the work. That is why I believe that God designed the church to be a place where we teach by mentoring rather than by the study of materials.
When we begin to place ourselves in God's complete control is when the mentoring begins, not beforehand. The reason for that is simply that we cannot be in control of the process, and we must first come to the place where we realize how futile it is for us to try to learn and grow on our own. When we can come to the point where we see ourselves on the edge of a cliff with no other way than to trust God within our heart for the next step; that is when we are ready to start being mentored by The Holy Spirit.
The things we must concentrate on are meant to change our character to fit within the Kingdom of Heaven and nothing more. It is not to better ourselves or to compete with someone for a place of status, but simply to prepare us to enter into that place with Christ where we can trust and love completely. It is that type of education that most people cannot wrap their mind or hearts around. We are designed to love and be loved; it is a part of the programming that is built into the human experience and yet is denied by most of us as we fight against the simple beauty of God's intent to save us through love. I find that my purpose is still being developed as I learn how to love, care and listen to God's voice within me. A big part of my purpose right now is for you as I continue to pour myself out like water for your life. I want for you to know that God has a direct purpose for each of us, but we must position ourselves in life to be taught and mentored. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
