KEEPING UP WITH THE NEW YOU GOD IS CREATING

Greetings in Jesus:

Can I ask a question?  How many of us have changed our lives right away when we can to Christ? How many of us took quite a while before that lifestyle change started to take effect?

We have been talking this week about some of the general basic things about who we start out being when we come to Christ, and how it takes work to find the true character of who God has created us to be. Many times it may take years of living life before we understand some of the basic changes we need in order for us to live out the principals of Christ in our lives.  We fight and struggle with trying to make the old person that we have always been adhering to follow completely new rules that by nature we can't even understand at first.  We always hear the statement "We have become a new creature in Christ", but I can tell you that is never done in the twinkling of an eye, or without a great amount of work and commitment.  Just because we say something will never mean this world will simply give up and walk away.  The world is much more ruthless than obeying the desire of our heart to change, but Christ once He is invited into our hearts can and will force change within us if we really mean business.  It really does become you and God against this world many times, and that is why we need to be so close to Him in our daily lives.  We need to be in a constant prayerful attitude as we encounter these problems in life.  It does not matter where they may come from, but the family issues we face are often the most difficult of all.

God's word tells us some very unpleasant things will take place when this world begins its descent into a more evil time in the last days.  We may well find ourselves at odds with those whom we have loved all of our lives because they cannot see the truth in Christ that we see.  If society takes a turn toward a New World Order the toleration of this world toward our rights to worship openly and freely may be taken away, but what does that mean for the Christian?  It means the same life or death struggle that we had in believing in Christ when the church first started.  That is the same thing that the word of God is predicting to happen.  There will be many who now claim they are Christian who will turn on the church exposing those they know are loyal to Christ out of fear and pressure.  When that does happen; and we all know eventually it will, what will you do?

In many different ways, people like myself will be sought out and targeted by this world as among the first to go because we will be thought of as an enemy of the state.  I am getting off track somewhat, but I want for you to think about who it is that you are becoming as a follower of Christ.
For many, it has been a kind of "RIDE ALONG" in that we have not personally done much to change anything in our life, but God has never intended for us to stay the same people we have always been before.  God is creating a new life within us; a new attitude, a new set of rules we want for our lives and loved ones; and most of all a closeness to God that this world cannot abide and will do anything to try to kill.  We need to be striving toward grasping that new life and person with all of our strength because we will need it.

May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
