THE WISDOM TO SAY NO
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
There are many who tend to walk rather blindly into relationships that they know are unhealthy with the intent of influencing that person to change their life or to follow Christ's example within them more closely. Some times it is a God led message that they are asked to give someone, and sometimes they themselves get dragged into habits and actions they know are wrong just because they want to try to get closer to that person to help. We have an attitude that tells us that we should never judge others which tends to stick with us us because of the guilt that humanity already has with the original sin. That guilt tells us at times that no matter what we should never give up on someone whom we feel that God has led us to speak to. In some cases this can be to our own detriment because we have not yet been prepared to deal with the kinds of depth in sin that these people are involved in and we ourselves become in danger of sliding back into a life style that they live. We may just be trying to relate and yet we get pulled under.
Proverbs 4:10-27 gives us some solid advice when it comes to gaining and holding wisdom. We must make up our minds that we want wisdom in our lives and then we must continue to pursue that wisdom to obtain it. No matter who we are there will be situations where we can get in over our heads in trying to help someone. Wisdom's way is straight and level in contrast to the lives with are crooked and full of sin. In some cases we may required to just let someone go who is playing a game with us about our witness to them in Christ. That is particularly true if we find ourselves getting caught up in the deceit and lies they live in. Not everyone whom we come into contact with will respond to the message of Christ. Some are planted here as traps for our lives or stumbling blocks for us in our growth in Christ Jesus. We need to have the discernment to be able to spot these people and situations in life. There are those who are wicked in their root who cannot sleep at night until they have gained an opportunity from an act of violence or deceit. Unfortunately there are many of these planted within the church today who have been invited in by the seeker sensitive movements that have reduced the responsibility that we all have to make a decision about the Lordship of Christ in our lives. Tis word tells us that while the righteous walk in increasing light we will see those who are planted as weeds walking in darkness no matter what we do or say.
We are all called to be a shining light that can be seen by all who are willing to look, but for some that light becomes a challenge to knock down or hurt someone else to make themselves look better. We should be changed from the inside out through the transformation of our mind and our heart. The crooked and perverse things of this world should be falling by the way side, and wisdom in Christ should be helping us against the pitfalls that are so often found. We need to be careful today whom we invite within our inner circles because the enemy has many spies who are seeking only to destroy what small gains we can make in Christ. It does not matter if it is a friendship or perhaps a relationship that is testing our resolve to follow Christ today we need to be careful to make sure that it remains in the light of God's truth and life. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
