A NEW SERIES ON WISDOM

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

It occurs to me as I pray about what God would have me tackle next that today's social structure is lacking wisdom more so than almost anything that I can think of.  Wisdom is one of the things that God seeks to impart to us as His children in this world, but it is also one of the things that we have to really want to seek after from God in order to receive it.

One of the areas where we need the most wisdom is in who or in what we trust to put our faith in. What is it that we can hold to and rely upon in this life to always be true to us.  That one thing is wisdom.  It is understanding what the most important thing in this life is to us and then holding it so close to us that it cannot be taken away.  In the book of Proverbs 3:8-9:18 we begin to see exactly what true wisdom is and what it does for us; and of course it is attached to our knowing God personally.  From Proverbs 3:8-18 God tells us that wisdom of God heals us in a spiritual sense all the way through our created being, and that healing also affects our physical bodies and our everyday way of living.  In many ways, this wisdom becomes a form of merchandise for us to negotiate through this life with; in fact, God views this wisdom better than the silver or the gold that this world has built it's concepts of wealth upon.  Involved in wisdom is also the length of our days in living in this world because wisdom is directly tied to the tree of life.  According to the word of God wisdom is a source of life to those who seek after wisdom from God, and wisdom played a dynamic role in the creation of the universe.

The very first part of seeking wisdom is by getting close to God. Way back in the very beginning of King David and then in his lineage with Solomon the writer of Proverbs we have known instinctively that staying close to the creator was the first step in any kind of wisdom that we could have.  It has been proven time and again that when we fall away from our relationship with God we also fall away from any chance of having wisdom.  We might well have knowledge that is much greater than ever before in human history; although that may even be in question, with all of the tools that we can gather together if we do not understand how to control and use them effectively we are doomed to failure.

The very thought of being able to build perfection without any blueprint is ridiculous and very self-centered, yet this seems to be the very direction that we continue to be pushed into.  We know that God already tells us that if we want wisdom we need to find out where we can find it first, and then we need to go to that place and seek after it earnestly.  We cannot depend upon a form of wisdom or a reflection of wisdom that appeal to many today, but truth in wisdom that is associated with the only relationship that will ever count in this life; and that is the wisdom of knowing and loving God.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
