KEEPING THE DANGER REAL

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

For all of us the danger is always that of being lulled into a state of apathy about what goes on around us.  It comes in our comfort in surroundings and the lack of moral strength to stand for the things that we know are true in the face of opposition from peer pressure all around us. I am very sure that the things that we feel today are the same as when Jesus walked among us, but I also believe that as the time grows closer for the battle line to be drawn in the sand by those who profess Christ in this generation the differences will grow more intense.

These differences are in the desires for us to take evil to a next step, and to throw out those things that have guided us spiritually throughout life.  I sometimes think of it in the same way as getting that itch to redecorate a room that remains beautiful just because we want a change.  It isn't that doing that is bad, but in the process of change comes the chance for the enemy to wreck havoc in the process, and cause things to happen in the plan that we have never intended.  When we go through a change in our life we must be very careful how things are placed together and that we have followed a plan that is guided by God's Spirit.  While it is alright to redecorate we need to remember that change means getting messy for a time, and in that mess and chaos is the chance for our safety to be tampered with.

I sometimes wonder if we can recognize real evil when we see it because we have been taught from the time we were small to always be inclusive of ideas and people.  If we look at the general attitude of this world we will find that at any time everything goes!
One of the main revolutions within the church today has been the seeker sensitive movement to include any kind of behavior or lifestyle within the church body as rationalized and accepted behavior.  While we may be able to love the world for itself and the beauty we can see in it we still know enough to not leave a wild bear alone in our home while we are gone and not expect the house to be torn apart when we come back home.  The same thing become true when we invite the world in to share very delicate spiritual things with us.  We cannot adopt  the ideas of this world in drawing crowds of people to hear the Gospel by combining the same principals of this world that accommodates all walks of life to a social rock band concert in an open air stadium.  The world will bring with it the trash and attitude of the world, and we will be left with the mess and the chaos.  That is why for every ministry to understand the cost of the various projects it starts and to be prepared to finish the building before they start to tear the walls down for remodeling.  The attitude that we use in going into ministry must change; that is true, but the question is "Who is supposed to be in the leadership of that change?"  I want for us to consider this as we continue to discuss these dangers in our spiritual journey.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
