WHO IS THE LION WAITING TO DEVOUR US?
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
It is a large part of our humanity to try to find someone or something else to blame for the misgivings and mistakes we as people make in the flesh on a daily basis It works quite well for us to do that with one another, but not so much when it comes to our relationship with our creator.
The book of Romans 7:8: speaks to us about a process of being set aside for God's use within this world, and of the terribly difficult prices that it will ultimately cost for us to do that if we are really going to be a true child of God. It becomes like a marriage relationship between a husband and wife in the Jewish culture except for the fact that we are playing the role of the wife with God no matter if we are man or woman. We have thus made a commitment to love and serve God; to stay chastened and true to Him, and to do His bidding as a member of His household. Romans 7:4 " Wherefore my brethren, you also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that you should be married to one another, even to Him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth the fruit of God."
The very first lion that waits to devour us is our own ego to think more highly of ourselves than we should. In fact, most of us are still walking away from our commitment to Christ thinking that we are still in control and still the master of our own lives. We are quick to tell ourselves that we are the captain of our own ship and we control our own destiny when at the time that we make that commitment to Christ we should have understood that our very lives have been made forfeit for the cause and purpose that God has for us.
If we can understand the degrading things that Christ our Lord went through to teach us about the Good News and the New Covenant that God has made with us for our salvation then we should also know that we as His bride will also undergo a humbling experience which is our reasonable service to Him as the Lord of our household. That humility becomes a kind of tearing down of the things we have built up about ourselves as individuals much in the same ways the military must tear down the individual ego before a person can be trained to follow orders very well. We know that for the most part unless we can love God enough to give our lives out of a love sacrifice to Him we will have to undergo a period of training in order to understand the full impact of our decision to follow Christ in this life...it is at that time that we begin to see the lion appear who would devour us from the infancy of our relationship with Christ. The question is whether we will learn how to love God and give to Him out of gratitude or will we be forced into obedience? The next question is how long must we go through this before learning to love God; or will we never learn?
I can tell without any doubt that there is a vast majority of us who have never learned this lesson or received this training with a whole heart as yet. The first of several questions for this week have been asked...where are you in this structure of God's household? May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
