PUTTING OUR PERSONAL STYLE IN A MINISTRY

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

How many ministries can we find in our community who are essentially doing the same work?  I think that we can all say that we know of several who compete with one another through churches and community fund raisers to get their names out there ahead of the other ministry.

I want for us to think for a moment about all of the energy it takes for us to duplicate the efforts to put together  a thriving ministry, and what it might be like to joyfully work together with these various ministries to really make a difference in the power and influence of Christ by allowing Him to take complete control over what we do and say together.  The question is "What did Jesus mean by asking us to be of the same mind and the same heart?"  The basic purpose for us to love one another as we love ourselves is for those who are in Christ to demonstrate to this world what it is like to give Christ complete control over our activities and ministries in this life.  When we combine our efforts we become stronger than ever; so strong in fact that the enemy has no chance against us.  We may scoff at the old saying of DIVIDE AND CONQUER but that is exactly what happens every time we take up an intent of heart to compete in ministries against one another!  We are not spreading the Gospel as much as we are showing this world how to compete against ourselves for supremacy.

We need desperately to go back to the basics of our faith and rebuild with Christ as the head of all that we do.  We tend to get caught up today in the same attitudes of the world around us, and throughout the 19 and 20th centuries now we have allowed our desire to have our name on it and our point of view of it dominate all others to the point we have lost almost all credibility with the ones we have been sent to minister to.  Like those of Corinth we too in a time when we should be able to teach and preach the Gospel effectively find ourselves in need of being taught the basics of the foundations of Christ because we are too weak to understand meat of the word of God.  If anything what is God saying to you right now?  Are you involved in a ministry or a group that is duplicating ministry that should be stronger, but it has a certain label or name you have given it that you cannot let go of?  Isn't it time to seek out those who are in various kinds of ministry that duplicates yours to see if you can combine efforts?  It takes humility and service to others to be able to do this, but it will also put Christ as the head of what you do.

We should be able to give glory and praise to God through our efforts in ministry by allowing Him the control to open and close the doors that He sees fit to in our lives.  Many of us have ego's that are too large for us to be able to serve effectively, but we also have talents that when they are combined with the right other talents in ministry are unstoppable.  I want for you to think about that just for a few moments, and then take this to prayer; then wait for God's answer.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
