WORDS WE DON'T UNDERSTAND 2

Greetings in Jesus:

PROPITIATION:  I have found that this is a word that very few people can grasp without reading up on it.  It means " THE REMOVAL OF GOD'S PUNISHMENT FOR SIN THROUGH THE PERFECT SACRIFICE OF JESUS CHRIST" Romans 3:25.  Notice that once again this comes back down to the simple work of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.  We cannot have this propitiation of sin in any other way but through Jesus.

One of the things that I had to realize is that our involvement with Christ has got to be a daily one which on a daily basis we start out with giving ourselves as that living sacrifice to Christ in turn for His act of sacrifice for our sin.  How we ever got the idea that Salvation was free to the person who has accepted Christ as Savior is beyond me?  The act of acceptance is free, but anything we do after that is through Jesus Christ and not by our own will...and that quite frankly is the only way we can be counted as a part of Christ; because it is His life through us now and not our own at all.  It is rather amazing that people for the most part do not understand that the acceptance of what Christ Jesus has done for us is to actually give up our own life for Him as well.  That life that we give Him is on a daily basis, and is repeated each day of our lives for as long as we live it.

The Christian life; if lived according to the word of God is a spiritual change within us that takes place in behavior patterns, and a way of thinking in our heart that causes a radical change.  When we consider the true ramifications of what it means we must realize that it is not just an emotional decision alone, but it becomes a process of our decision to lay our life down for God on a daily and moment to moment basis.  In a sense we are choosing to place our life and body upon an alter of sacrifice physically, emotionally, and spiritually in the same ways that Jesus placed Himself upon the cross for our salvation.

That thought alone should give us pause before jumping into it because we have a life time of living that way to endure before we reach the goal that is set before us.  That is why our race becomes a race of endurance rather than one of simply declaring a winner to cross the finish line first.  Jesus has paid the price for us to be able to accept this free gift of Salvation, and yet our work and price does not start until after we have accepted that gift.

REDEMPTION: shows us that Jesus has paid the price for an opportunity to go free instead of paying the price for sin...which is death Romans 3:24; 8:23, but our life in Christ has only just begun.  The race that Paul speaks of lays before us now, and our commitment to Christ and to our part of the relationship has yet to be tested.  Let us build wisely and upon that firm foundation of the teachings of Christ that has been given to us...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
