KNOWING YOUR OWN TESTIMONY

I have found there are a great many Christians who tend to freeze up when it comes to saying anything about Jesus Christ...and I cannot help but wonder why?  It seems that people have no problem sharing something with others that they are excited about with the exception of what Christ has done for their lives.  I am not certain if that is because of the ways we have socially dealt with personal testimony, or if we really don't have anything in our lives exciting enough to share with others when it comes to our relationship with God.

I have noticed for a long time that when we do have good things happen to us we do share them...but not from a reference of what God has done for our lives. always seems to come from our having been lucky or that we some how had a brilliant idea that panned out for us rather than to give any credit to the awesome love that God shows us almost everyday of our lives.

This week in our bible study I want to take the time with the men's bible study to see how well we do with our own testimony for Christ in our life.  No one should know that story as well as we know that story.  I don't think that men are used to having to explain why it is they believe in something so we are going to take the time to practice that gift of our life. It may be very interesting to find out what our thought processes are in the ways we believe in something, and we may find that we don't believe in it nearly as much as we think we do.  The point of this kind of thing is that we come across saying that we believe in God, but without showing any kind of reasons for our belief.  I believe we need to change that as men, and find ways to communicate what is inside of us.

That does not just go for those inside the bible study class however, because we all need to know in our hearts what our personal story is and have several ways to present it to others.  We need to practice that testimony on one another in various ways to grow in our courage to speak to someone else about why we believe.  One of the first things that we need to realize is that what we say is not about anyone else except us.  We don't have to convince someone else that what we believe is true...what we need to do is to give them a reason for why we believe   There has to be a starting place for people.

Can you tell people about something that God did for you?  Can you tell them what made you believe that God was who He says He is?  Have you ever shared any of those times with others when it had to be a God thing?  If not then come to bible study on Thursdays and practice with us...share your love and understanding of God...it may open doors that you never thought possible.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
