MATTHEW 25 THE PARABLES

MATTHEW 25: Begins with the parables that Jesus used to describe our current situation and what we need to do to make sure that we are ready for His coming.  Once again the words of Jesus teachings are very clear if we take them at face value and do not try to complicate them.  The Ten Virgins parable was a strict warning that we should stay watchful at all times and to prepare ourselves for Christ's return above all things.  It is so very easy to let our own situation get out of control that we are no longer prepared for Christ ourselves let alone trying to help someone else be prepared,

Each person coming here is relatively concerned about their personal walk with God or you would not be visiting this site so what I am saying to you does not indicate that we have to fight so hard to stay close to God...but it is in letting our guard down just enough to let our lives begin to slip back into habits of this world that are harmful.  Our personal meditation and prayer life are among the first areas that suffer in these cases.  We need ways to continue to remind ourselves that we cannot long survive without that extra food source spiritually...like your coming here and sharing with me the Spirit of Christ.  I think there are many times when we are helping others by giving oil away for their lamps to stay lite that we do not notice how low our own supply may be running.  How much oil have we brought with us anyway?  How much love and forgiveness, mercy and kindness do we have to share with those around us? The only answer for is is to be constantly plugged into Christ who is the source of constant supply for us.  If we are going to help supply others we must have a continuous supply coming to us as well.

In the Talents parable Jesus tells us about what happens when we become too afraid of loss to take chances to increase our abilities through tapping into God's transforming power.  On one hand we must be careful to always be sustained by the resource of God's Spirit within us, but on the the others hand we are never to remain the same as when we started our journey.  We must become transformed by the renewing of our mind and heart, and that looks very much like earning interest on what God has put into our hands.

This increase that God's seeks from us is not according to the world around us, but it is a personal growth and increase in who it is that we are.  The journey may be very different than what we have ever thought it might be...generally it is.  What I can tell you is that the increase that God is looking for in in you personally; it has nothing to do with anyone else even in your life.  You increase is not in even the closest ones in this life to you...the investment is in you alone for God.  That means that in your own eyes you may have even lost the one talent that God has given to you, but in His eyes it is more did you try to increase it?  Did you put your efforts on the line to seek a harvest?

There are so many things that can be said about this particular chapter and yet I don't have the time or space to continue right here and now...we will pick up on this next blog.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
