FINDING A NEW SENSE OF WORTH

Greetings in Christ:

As I read the scripture I find it necessary to reassess my own ideas of what worth really is.  As I look upon the first church I find a new sense of value that is given to them through their relationship with Christ.  That worth can be measured in many different ways and yet in the end it is very rarely based upon any kind of a dollar amount that has been accumulated over ones lifetime.  The true value of ones life is based in the ways that other lives have been influenced by that life on it journey during the time it spends in this physical setting.

I have found that with the words " for me to live is Christ and for me to die is gain" there becomes a new and different perspective to value.  It is not found in self gratifications for no matter how much we may be able to gather around us there will always come a time when we too must depart and leave it all behind us.  We leave this world just as we came to this world...with nothing but what we have collected within our hearts.  We find in Acts 16-17 a need they had to share something that had become the very fragment of what gave them life...it was their relationship with Christ.  What ultimately gave them more life was the sharing of that Good News with others.  The esteem came from the results of the life that was shared with others and in watching that life continue to grow and develop in them.

As I look at the church today I can see that my worth is not in me or in my stuff, but in the lives of others who I have helped to find A connection with God through the Spirit of Christ.
My worth is not centered in the state of self, but to those whom I leave behind me who have been able to touch the truth even better than I could.

Today we are called to touch the face of God even more so than those who went before us, and that becomes their worth in life.  The times are getting harder for us to deal with because of the great sins that are unleashed in this world.  It is my prayer that we will find our own sense of worth in one another, as we watch growth in those around us because of who we are; not to ourselves, but to them.  I pray that you will consider this today as you go through life...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
