WHO IS YOUR REAL FAMILY?

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

Luke 8:19-21 gives us a strong indication that the real family in our life needs to be those who are in unity with us in Christ Jesus.  I believe it is real easy to forget that fact in this life as we cling to the people we have always known as family instead of those who step up to prove their loyalty in Christ to us every time we are in trouble.

The church has been established to be family for us in Christ to grow and find security in as we grow and develop in the Spirit of Christ.  I think its funny that we can go to any country or any place in the world where we find another Christian and also find a brother or a sister; father or mother in Christ.  On the other hand we often cannot find that same thing within our own family ties in the world.  This simply tells me that the world cannot love us in the same ways that God can , and does love us.  We have so much to be thankful for in Christ family wise...sure there are all kinds of family we have inherited in Christ.  Some are stronger and others are weaker in the faith, but we find a bond with the people of God that cannot be found any where else in life.

Many people have never opened themselves up to seeing that simple fact; that our real family is really not of this world either when we come to Jesus as Savior.  It isn't that we stop loving those people who are in our physical family, but that our nature begins to change and our hearts as they come closer to God are drawn to the things which are of God.  It is rather natural then that those people who belong to God would attract our love more so than those of this world.  Jesus even refer to this by saying that unless we love God more so than our father, mother, brother or sister we are not worthy of God's love in return. Luke 9:23-27 tells us if we are to follow Christ we must also take up our cross and follow Him as He has walked in this life.  This is a complete commitment to God; not a partial one, and anyone who wants more of this world than they want the Kingdom will be disappointed on that day.  This true not just with relationships but with our possessions as well.  Matthew 6:19-24 speaks of ;laying up for ourselves treasures in Heaven where nothing of this world can touch them.  Who then is our real family..life and future?  It is all in the Kingdom of Heaven.  It is time that we began to realize just how invested we need to be in our spiritual family.  It is my prayer that we will begin to realize who our real family is as compared to this world.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
