WHAT DOES THE PLAN OF SALVATION DO?
Greetings in Jesus:
You may think on the surface that to be a very silly question...and yet I don't really think that there are all that many Christians whom could discuss that subject past the point of forgiveness of sin...and even that is not entirely true. What we need to realize is that the Plan of Salvation is just that {A Plan} which gives us an opportunity to seek God once more just as Adam and Eve once did. Before that Plan was put into effect mankind in general was doomed to complete ruin Romans 5:8-9, and we have now been given the chance for rescue through our acceptance of and repentance to Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. The sin issue that was brought into this world through the disobedience of one man who was Adam brought with it death. Because of that we as men must all die, but the power of sin has been broken only through our acceptance of Christ. If we stop to think about it the Plan never put to death sin...for it never was destroyed, but it's power to separate us from God has been taken away if we trust Jesus as Lord. That relationship gives us righteousness { a right standing with God} Romans 5:18. Instead of the death that we deserve Romans 5:12,16,21 we can have eternal life through Jesus Christ Romans 5:17-21 but only if we come to Christ, ask Him for it, and obey His word.
This plan of Salvation only works through the actions we take to have a working and growing relationship with God. It isn't like a drive by stop of ice cream at a McDonald's service window. There are many who would say that we can should have no part in this Plan of Salvation because it was determined from the beginning of time by God that He would do this. It may be true that God had made these plans from the beginning but He also planned on our personal responsibility to take action to accept and live out the Salvation that He has offered to us. Like it or not we have been separated from God Romans 5:18, and we need a relationship with God Romans 5:11-19. The real secret to this plan is our own obedience to God's word as I have already shown in this blog. The reason I have chosen to deal with this throughout Romans 5 is that we do not understand completely the danger in ignoring what the word tells us about this. Our disobedience will still bring judgment on us when Christ comes again either as a responsible Child of God who has accepted His mercy through His promise of deliverance, or we will be among the millions who have simply snuffed off this Plan as something we can get around when the time comes just like the Scribes and Pharisees did in Jesus time. Thank God we still have the law that must be lived out...but in the greatest measure thank God for His grace Romans 5:20. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
