MAKING CHOICES 1

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

Whenever we start to deal with the choices we make there is a lot of things to consider.  Things like the perspective we have at the time we are choosing like the things that we are being shown up front and those hidden things that we cannot see.  I want to spend just a little time with making choices coming up because of the importance God put on them.

King David made a great number of choices...some good and others that were not so good which is just like us for the most part.  The real difference is that King David had a truly repentant heart, and he always came back to God and humbled himself before God for forgiveness.  King David wrote quite a lot about choosing the Lord his God in Psalms.  He said " I said to the Lord apart from you I have no good thing" Psalms 16:2-, and in Psalms 63:1 " O God you are my God, earnestly I seek you;my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you. in a dry and weary land where there is no water".

When we have a good perspective with the choices we make we can often find ourselves also in the center of God's will.  We have to seek to allow God to make a lot of our choices for us by how we give our will over to Him and trust in Him.  We don't have to be the wisest of people to be in the center of God's will as far as choices are concerned. 1 Corinthians 1:26-27 " Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong".  In many cases the things that you are going through is because God has chosen to teach you or to prepare you to receive a gift that you have asked for...and it is something that you could never attain on your own.  I think many times when we think of how poor we are as compared to the rich of this world we need to realize that God has not chosen those who are rich in this world to be the richest in faith. James 2:5, but to those who can have a right perspective of what is real value and what is not.  At one time we were all people of this world who thought and acted with the mind of this world.  All of our thoughts were on those things that could real only bring pleasure for a short time, but now we have the mind of Christ and we can see the truth about the value of life.  We now know what mercy is and how to react to it.  We know for the first time about love and the truth that stands behind it; we know about the eternal aspects of that love and the light of Christ that we are protected by and that we can base all choices upon.  The race that we run is unlike this world runs, and the prize is given for a different reason entirely...stay the course...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
