CHOICES 2

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

Among the greatest of the choices that we have to make is that of how we intend to live after we have accepted Christ.  For many of us it becomes a point of confusion for us to ask the question "How are you going to live now that you are in Christ"?  The reason for that is that the church tends to drop us at the nearest pew at that point and we end up having to fight for knowledge and information on our growth in Christ.  It seems that few churches today are concentrating on the formidable stages of growth that allows the new Christian to have the basic training needed to grow at least to the point that they can follow through with the baby to toddler stages of their spiritual life.  This causes many new Christians to crash and burn when it comes to their growth, and any understanding of how to live for Christ.

We are starting to look at what we should actually do to maintain what God has given us. We are the ones that have made a choice to believe in Christ, and so now that we have forgiveness we need a clear pathway to follow in some of the basic things to watch out for in life.  In Colossians 2 Paul starts out by explaining some of the wrong reasons for self denial, and then beginning in chapter 3 he starts to explain what true Christian behavior looks like. "Since you have been raised with Christ...( which basically means that you have gone through the process of baptism and declaration of your faith publicly in Christ); you should set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God"

Paul said "set your minds on things above, not on earthy things; for you died to this world and now your life is in Christ with God"  When Christ ; who is your life appears, then you will also appear with Him in Glory"  in other words when we go through that process we are no longer subjects of this world...we have become children of the King of Kings, and a new creation so we should now start to live like we are children of God and not this world.

That means that we have given ourselves over to the power of God's Spirit who dwells within each one of us to guide us, and create within us a new drive and desire for Heavenly things.  We still have to make that daily choice however, to follow the urges of God instead of the things of this world.  When we feel that tug from God we need to listen to it because God's Spirit has promised to continue to guide and lead us toward an ever closer relationship to and with God as we are obedient.  Our choice is that of becoming that daily living sacrifice to God; or in other words becoming obedient to what He tells you in your heart.  In order to really do that we need people around us who are willing to show us examples of how and what to do each time we run across a problem in what we should choose.  These are mentors, and there found everywhere in our spiritual life.  If you have not found someone whom you can feel as though you can trust in Christ yet I suggest that you start to look around you...it does not have to be a preacher or a church leader, but it needs to be someone that you can relate to to hang with, and learn from.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
