WATCH OUT SO YOU ARE NOT DECEIVED
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
Luke 21:8-24 has Jesus teaching on one of the biggest problems of our Christian life...and that is being deceived by those who are supposed to be teaching us the truth. On several occasions Jesus spoke of others who would come saying that "They were the Christ", but He said do not believe them. What that really meant was that there are many people who will come to you with a false doctrine saying that they have received a special knowledge from God or an angel sent by God that would change how and who we worship God. In truth these are attempts to change the Gospel of Christ in such a way that it is no longer effective, and Jesus told us to stay with the exact words given to us concerning salvation because not even one small jot or title would be changed in the book of life or the plan of Salvation that the Father has given to us.
When ever I look around today I can see thousands of commentaries written on the word of God...and many of those are good. There are times when we find someone writing about scripture that brings out a new idea about the meaning of a verse. When that happens we should be careful to compare that to other trusted commentaries on that passage , and with the passage itself through our own prayer and leading of God's Spirit to find the truth. God will never contradict Himself in His word to you. The Holy Spirit will always verify His word to you through seeking God in prayer and allowing Him to teach you. If someone starts to tell you that you cannot understand the word of God without some other book as well do not believe them. The truth is very simple and any small child can understand it...don't let people make it confusing to you.
For the most part we do not have to have any deep understanding of the word of God past the knowledge of salvation in Christ Jesus to walk with God. He will be faithful to teach us those things we need to know through His word and Spirit's guidance. Jesus was concerned about those who went so deep into the spiritual law that they confused themselves as well...we have to be careful to always keep our spirit's light in Christ, and be teachable in the most humble of ways. We will find that God can teach us about His plan for us through a small child as well as a commentary on Revelations. The most of true revelation through the power of the Holy Spirit has been revealed to me when I was simply open to learning from the source of life around me. As I have said before the greatest things we can do is to focus on Christ the first thing when we awake up. Do what you need to do to remind yourself of making that contact through prayer and and relationship with the Father...He will add to you that day all that you need. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
