PRAYER FOR ONE ANOTHER

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

We so often talk about prayer in our church's and yet when it comes right down to it we have real problems still with prayer.  How to pray without drying up after we have prayed our grocery list of things that we almost automatically ask for is hard to do when we first start out.  In Colossians 1:9-14  Paul writes some helpful thoughts on prayer, when he brings up these few points: 1. We need to try to understand what God's will is for our lives, 2. that we seek after spiritual wisdom instead of our own wisdom, 3. that we please and honor God with what we pray for, 4. that we bear good fruit in what we pray for. 5. We need to grow in the knowledge of God by really taking the time to meditate, 6. to be filled with the power of God's Spirit and strength,7. develop great endurance and patience, 8. stay full of Christ's joy over the salvation that He has offered to us. 9. to give thanks always for that salvation, and pray for our basic needs, and not the wants of the flesh.

These things are not the kinds of things that we would normally consider in prayer; in fact just being thankful for your faith to believe in God and have a changed life is foreign to us. At the same time when we begin to look at prayer in this different way we will find that God begins to help us to know more of what God wants from us as we pray.  By asking God to give us a deeper spiritual understanding we open up a door spiritually that allows God to aid us in living our our life for Christ.  When we ask God for a greater knowledge of Himself He will begin to show us things that we never even realized existed for our lives.  We have all heard of having " peace that passe's all understanding" and yet very rarely have we found a way to put that into practice for our lives in times of real trouble, but what that really deals with is the giving of endurance in our lives so we can stand under the pressures we face.  What we pray for our selves is exactly the same thing that we need to pray for those around us as well.

The question is how many people around you do you think could be touched if you began to pray this way?  If we really tune out the world around us and talk to God with our heart we will find our time with God will increase, and the time we do spend with Him will fly by.  It will no long be that list of things that we always pray for, but the conversation will no doubt turn to those whom we have been in touch with that we know also need His touch.  When that begins to happen for us our lives will also change, and the length of our time with God will be impressively longer than we ever thought we could pray.

We need to have a good strong prayer life if we are to stand for Christ in this life...it is my prayer that we will begin to do this for one another.  I desperately need your prayers as we continue on this journey together...and I promise that I will also continue to pray for you my dear ones in Christ.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
