HATING YOURSELF

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

There are some people who get very depressed with themselves when they get less from themselves than they think they should have.  The truth is that the enemy of God is always on the prowl to mess up our lives at every turn.  When he finds an easy target...namely those who are in some way inferior in their own mind , or who are already down on themselves for some reason Satan has a field day with them.

I think that depression is a bigger problem now than at any time in history because of the expectations we place on ourselves to be the best.  We simply cannot be perfect in all that we do and yet this world only promotes those who seem perfect in our eyes. The standards that we adopt for perfection may be according to the guidelines of the world around us, but it is very much like living according to the letter of the Law instead of by the Spirit of the Law.  That even becomes more impossible without God's Grace and forgiveness.  The person we are in this life will never reach perfection because the flesh cannot produce perfection except through the eyes of others who are themselves imperfect.

This general hatred of self is due to us buying into this worlds dictates that constantly tells us we are not good enough for God's Kingdom; that we have sinned, and we will never be perfected.  A good con is always attached to a half truth. We are not good enough on our own...we will never be perfected in a physical way, but what we are dealing with is not physical...it is Spiritual, and we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength...we simply have to let Him have the complete control over who we are and who it is we will be.

We seem to have lost the whole idea of forgiveness through Christ when we begin to get down on ourselves.  Jesus came to die on the cross for you, and that means that you are personally someone who is very special to Him.  It is not healthy to tear down those things that God loves; in fact we are putting ourselves in the place of God as the judge of what is and is not worthy of His love.  We know that the enemy plays constant tricks on us and none of them are fair even according to this sin filled world.  Our main job is to keep our eyes upon Christ as we walk through this life, and not allow our attention to be taken off of Him as the center of our lives.  That means to take yourself out of the center position of concentration and put God there.  Jesus has promised to deal with all of the things that we need in this life if we do that.  In truth if we allow God to operate in us through His Spiritual system we will be able to begin to forgive, and then to forget all of that which the enemy of God tries to bring up to accuse us of.  When Satan or his demons bring up something that you have done, and have already been forgiven of simply say " I have been forgiven of that"  and ignore him.  If you do that enough he will stop bringing it up because it no longer holds any power over you.  Your worth and value is through the love that God has for you.  We must remember that above all else. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
