SIN AND YOU
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
1 John 1: is the great example of light verses darkness we have in scripture in that Jesus is compared to light and truth. We cannot hide from that light , and the truth about who we are as humans and sin cannot be explained away by our own philosophy and wisdom.
What exactly does it mean to us to walk in the light? I truly think today...right now in fact we all are walking in the light of God's love without realizing His presence even exists among us. I believe even the physical gift of light is coming from God today as a way of His communication with us just to love us, but I don't even think that the bi product of light will exist without God's presence. John had written this account in 1 John just before he was exiled to Patimous an Island where he wrote Revelations.
In this account John starts with his first hand knowledge of what he calls the light of the world (who is of course Jesus). John talks about his first hand knowledge of Jesus Christ as being sent from the Father, and of the message that Jesus brought being the fulfillment of the law and the New covenant established in Christ for salvation. John also speaks to the claims that many people have made as to knowing Jesus and accepting Him, but who are not living up to what they claim to believe. He tells us that we cannot have fellowship with the light and still walk in the darkness. Many claim that since they have been saved by the blood of Christ they no longer sin, but in making such a claim we know they are lying and they deceive themselves. While Jesus is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from unrighteousness, if we claim we have not sinned we make Him out a liar and His word has no place in our lives.
We cannot have one foot in the Kingdom of Heaven and the other foot in this world. We are called on to make a complete exchange of our lives from this life to one which is promised us through eternity from God. In the exchange of our life here for our belief in Christ we have a great contrast...here we start with the concept of light and dark, but as John continues he will deal with other great contrasts like The new, and old commandments 1 John 2: 7-8 loving the Father and loving the world 2:15-16, Christ and the Anti Christ 2:18, truth and lies 2:20-21; Love and hatred 3:15-16. All of these contrasts deal with the nature of sin and you.
For us to achieve a complete life in Christ we must exchange this life first for the promise that God has made to us...we must be the ones to take that first step out in faith in God for it to work. I know that it is not that easy to trust completely in the Lord when you have nothing but His word. Please stop and think about how many times His word has been true for your life...how many times it has proven to be the only way that you could find peace; and then remember that He has never changed toward you. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
