BEING FRUITFUL

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

So much has been coming across my mind lately about our personal  responsibility to bare fruit in our daily lives for Christ that it is hard for me to think of much else.  This is a time when we so desperately need strong mature Christians to begin to take that step forward to minister within the body.

I just spent some time on the study of the Barren Fig Tree parable that Jesus spoke in Luke 13:6-9 where the master had come to look for fruit from a tree that had been planted in a particular spot and had been given excellent care, yet for three years had born no fruit.  The masters immediate response was to cut it down and up root it so that the soil could be used for something that would bear fruit,  and yet the vine dresser begged that he be allowed to take one more season to dig and fertilize the tree, and then if it did not bare fruit to cut it down.

This leads me to believe that God intends to look for fruit when He comes to us, and no matter how healthy we may be growing where ever we are the purpose for our being planted in the first place is never met unless we bare fruit.  The apathy that we have as a Child of God in this area is somewhat scary to me when I think of the response that God will certainly give to those who simply are coasting along.  There is a reason for us being planted...there is a reason for us to be grafted into the vine, and if we are alive that is good but if we are not barring fruit we will be pruned away and burnt with all of the dead wood.

The cost of not baring fruit even though we may think of ourselves as growing healthy in Christ is that we are seen as worthless to God, and no more than just sucking the life out of those who continue to produce.  No matter how we may feel about the political correctness of this view it is a very practical truth that God will put into reality on the day of judgment.

We may not possess the best of talents or the most brilliant of minds yet we have the ability to produce useful fruit from the Spirit of God who flows in and through us.  Time continues to run out for us to show that usefulness to God as we sit in our churches and simply take in the word...never releasing any of what we have been given to the rest of the world around us. Just as it tells us in Matthew 7: 21-27 "Not everyone who calls me Lord Lord will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven".  My friends it is time for us to wake up and to bare the fruit of God Spirit, for that is our calling...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
