THE ONENESS OF ALL BELIEVERS
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
We have been talking around the subject of unity in the body of Christ for a while now, and in trying to explain this I at first was impressed to speak about the individual responsibility we have to grow in Christ. I think that is where it all really starts because unless we are firmly planted in our faith none of the rest of this will work.
Let us look at a few of things that believers should be one in, and what our unity is experienced in: 1. We should be in one body, and that means that we should be experiencing fellowship with one another as Christians no matter what denominational tag we have on the church door. 2. We are called to be one in the Spirit...that does not mean one in our own spirit, but one in the Holy Spirit which is what activates our fellowship in the first place. 3.We should be one in hope, which is that glorious future we are all called to. 4. We should be one in the Lord Jesus Christ who we all say we believe in. 5. We should all have a common faith; in order words that same faith that we all claim to believe in. 6. We should be one in baptism just as the word tells us which leads us into and entry into the church. 7. We should be one in God the Father, and bear fruit of the Spirit of God through all of the things we have mentioned above.
So many time we become separated over things which are not scriptural reasons for separation of fellowship. As Ephesians 4:4-6 tells us " There is one body, and one Spirit. Just as you were called to one hope when you were called. One Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all who is over all, and through al in all"
We have all become responsible when we have accepted Christ as our Savior to be these things to one another. We are called to be united under one head which is Christ. see 1 Corinthians 12:12-26.
We all have these God given gifts to use for one another as tools of witness to this world around us. It goes on to say in Ephesians 4:12-16 that we all need to grow up in unity, and we keep growing until we reach that state of unity. Jesus did Himself say " I would that you all would become united as I am united with the Father"
We are called by the Father to this love of the Spirit of God within us 1 John 2:5-6 "But if anyoneobey's His words, God's love is truly this is how we know we are truly in Him. Who ever claims to live in Him mustwalk as Jesus did." I pray that you will consider these words from God about our fellowship with one another. May you richly bless Got through your life in Him.
