LISTENING AND DOING
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
The writings in James 11:19-27 speaks to us about two qualities that are getting very hard to find " Listening...and Letting Go". Both of these are based in our trust of God and belief in Jesus Christ our Lord.
We have gotten pretty bad at listening to others when they speak. Most of the time when we talk to another person it is in a retort or insertion of information that we are putting out...it has little to do with actual listening to another person speak to us. God tells us that the real fruit of the word is found in discernment, and it is impossible to discern without first hearing.
For some people they listen and then do nothing to change either themselves or the circumstances they find themselves in. For them it is like looking in a mirror and then turning away and forgetting what they looked like. In other words it does little good to see yourself for who you are without also taking action to improve on what you see. It gets pretty bad when the apathy that we have toward the things and people in this life cause us to do nothing. The word tells us that as we begin to see this world as being what we have been told it was...and when we realize that this is not the reality it claims to be we should be able more easily to let go of the influence we have allowed this world and those around us to have...letting go of this place and clinging to the Kingdom of God.
The truth is that we have been manipulated and brainwashed into thinking that what we feel and touch in this world is the only reality, but it is far from the truth. While we can sense different spiritual planes of existence we cannot reach them with the physical tools we have nor with the mentality or training we have in this physical world. If we are going to understand the spiritual places we must become a part of the spiritual plane. Just like "works and Faith" we cannot have a good understanding of what it is to listen without also doing. One of these is really no good to us without the other. We don't really have a reason to have either in our lives without belief in God, and the conviction that Jesus is who He says He is.
For those of us who do believe it is a constant battle to maintain a balance between God and self in this life. The advantage it that we know the truth and are preparing for when we know this reality will come to an ending...and it surely will. While you may say that you don't believe in all that think about this ...what if you are wrong? You may say right back to me what if you are wrong? You see friend if I am wrong I have really lost nothing because I have lived a good life filled with love and respect, but if you are wrong you will have lost everything that you ever could have dreamed for. I have a question for you....is what you are holding onto worth it? If you have been listening to what I am saying here then the next step is in letting go and allowing God to become your center. If you have God then you can let go, and let God lead you. I pray that you will do that soon. Don't see yourself and then walk away and forget what you looked like as did the person in the mirror. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
