JUMPING OUT OF THE PLANE
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
There is much said today by those who want to avoid dealing with God by saying "why would a loving God ever condemn us when He has taken so much time to assure our salvation"? The answer is rather simple if we will listen...if we break a natural law of this world we will pay a price for that law being broken. If we jump out of a tree we may break our leg, but still survive...if we jump off of a building we could either die or be maimed for life, and if we jump out of a plane without a parachute, or if we have a parachute but refuse to open it we will surely die. This is because to some degree we have broken the law of gravity within our mind, and we have committed a great mistake. In all of these cases we will no doubt pay the price of that law being broken, and it will be our own fault because we are the ones who jumped.
With God's law the result is the same thing...it isn't God who sends us to hell but we who continue to break the laws that God has set down for us spiritually. If we are in a dead fall from jumping out of the plane God has offered us a parachute. We may accept it and even put it on, but unless we use it the parachute is still useless to us, and if we reject the parachute that God offers us on the way down we have no way of saving ourselves. We are all much in that same situation when it comes to accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We know that we have disobeyed God's commandments, and that the wages of sin is death, but we continue to try to find a different way to salvation that through the acceptance of Jesus as Lord...we continue to reject the parachute. The further we fall the more desperate that situation becomes because if we go too far with our rejection even a parachute will not help us, and the result is paying the price for breaking the law.
There are many people today who consider themselves a part of a church body, but who have never really taken a step to have a real relationship with Jesus Christ. They are in a free fall just as if they had jumped from the plane without a parachute. While they should have been offered salvation through Jesus Christ many times they are not. After a while these same people think they are safe because of association. They know all about the parachute, and they may have even put one on at some time, but they have never pulled the "Rip Cord". They have never deployed the parachute, and because of their refusal to do so continue to fall fast toward disaster.
It becomes a very difficult thing to see someone fall past us picking up speed who is wearing a parachute and yet who refuses to use it. Our tendency toward letting ourselves listen to people who say you will be fine...even though in your heart you know that you have broken God's laws is great. We all like to feel comfortable within our own skin...we don't like change and we don't like pressure, and yet God's word has never promised us anything but challenge and change. This world will not have a bouncy house waiting for us on the ground when we fall to earth they way they may promise...it will be meeting the cold hard facts that we too have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
