WHAT WOULD IT BE LIKE IF?
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
There is no doubt in my mind of the power that awaits each believer through God's Spirit who dwells within them. The problem comes in tapping into that power. One of our biggest problems is in trying to tap into God's power for the wrong reasons. It usually has something to do with our own personal gain which is not a part of the Plan of Salvation in the first place. Self is one of the areas within us that leads quickly to sin.
God's power is reserved for those who can learn to love as He loves...without a need for payback or recognition, and where hidden agendas are no longer a part of the scheme of living. In other words the only ways that we can really see the true power of God at work in us is to give complete control away to God. We must allow God to be the one Wheeling the power that is His alone. I hate to think of the number of times when I really wanted God's power to be in my life only to find it missing because I was the one messing up the connection to it. What we must learn is that God's power dwells only in the complete unity of our yielding to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God's power dwells within the unity of love that we share with one another, the singleness of heart, and purpose in our worship and obedience to the will and commands of Christ Jesus. The word tells us many times that " as they all gathered together in one accord singing and praising God and in prayer in unity of Spirit the very building shook where they were with the power of God".
Acts 2:1.
I can't help but wonder what kind of Spiritual power would be within the church if we were indeed united and living in one accord as a church. What would it be like to accept the different gifts that flow through the minds and hearts of our brothers and sisters who are true believers and allow the Spirit of God to operate within the church in the ways He did then? God has not made it a secret that by our unity as a believer with others we will find greater strength within ourselves, but even more so when we bod in love together and allow God to be in charge of our direction and purpose in life the world has no way of countering the movement and flow of what we do in this world. We as children of God combined with His power and love cannot be stopped. I believe that even though in the minds of men the need for separation by doctrines and creeds only serves as a comfort zone for worship and praise of God, and a type of control for men to have in dictating how and where they will serve Him. In the wisdom of men it has also given the enemy a chance to pit us against one another for no good reason thus dividing us against one another, and that serves only to weaken our resolve in this world.
This makes me think about the teachings of Jesus that tells us " the wisdom of men may seem good for a time, but in the end it only leads to destruction", and that is a very good definition of what has happened in the church because of our involvement in Church government. It is unfortunate , but not unusual for men to mess up God's plan and purpose for their lives just as it is not unusual for God to have to get involved and rescue us from our own failures. We have a chance to change that cycle however, if we will obey God's commands to us to allow the Holy Spirit to be the teacher , comforter and guide.
In order for the church to have the power of God that we say we long for we must simply give the control of it to God and let go....He is the only perfect one, and believe me we need perfection in dealing with our spiritual lives. What would it be like if we would all just trust in the one single source that has never failed us?...ever! And what would it be like to be able to find comfort and help at every turn because of the family of God that surrounds us on almost ever street corner in our cities? What would it be like to be able to call on one another for help to achieve goals in our communities and feed the hungry, heal the sick and comfort the downtrodden in the ways Jesus intended? I think it would turn this world of hate and despair upside down for the cause of Christ instead of for our own agendas and personal causes. Write to me and tell me how you feel . May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
