COVERING UP THE TRUTH OF OUR FAITH
Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ :
There is absolutely no doubt that for some people the idea of suffering at all for the faith they have in Christ is not a part of what they have signed up for when they accepted Him for their salvation. Frankly that makes me sad and angry at the same time. I am sad because there are so many people who are blindly following Christ for all of the wrong reasons. Either they have misunderstood what God is asking of them or they were never told the truth about what having faith in Christ really means. I am angry at those who have become false teachers of the word of God who have allowed themselves to be lead around by the creeds and doctrines of a denominational organization to the point that the security of the organization and it's physical attachment to this world means more to them than their call through the power of God's Spirit to take the time to train and teach people the truth. Does that seem harsh to you? Perhaps it is in some ways, but I can tell you it is way past time that we begin to become harsh toward those who are in leadership positions who will not stand for their calling in Christ first.
Luke 12:2 " For there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed, neither hid, that shall not be known" Jesus has been speaking to those whom He has called false teachers in chapter 11 where He spoke those seven woes to them, and then here He tells us that we cannot hope to hid the real truth because at some point it will be revealed either by those who's own consciousness will see the error of their ways and correct it or by the day of judgment revealing their true identity. I choose to use Luke 12 as a spring board into this subject because of the number of people I have seen who have such problems with Confession and denial. In Luke 12:8-10 "Also I say to you, whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man confess before the angels of God; but he that denies me before men shall be denied before the angels of God,and whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him; but to him who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit it shall not be forgiven". These two scriptures are very often pushed to one side because they are hard to deal with if you are preaching nothing but God's love and forgiveness.
I don't think most people realize the extent of control we should be giving to God over our lives. The fact is that we are called on to give God complete control over who we are in this life. The idea of our death to the influence of this world over our thoughts and our actions when we come to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior should be complete, and yet as we continue to live this life out in a physical way we can not understand how we can change the habits we have formed about what is important to us. We actually begin to change on the inside, and as that change takes hold on the inside we start to see changes happening on the outside as well. You will hear me say this often; becoming a child of God is one of the most challenging and difficult things that you will ever do. That is a mile away from what is being taught in most churches today...but it is the truth. That may leave a bad taste in the mouth of someone who has been taught that closing your eyes , raising your hand in the back of the church, and saying a prayer is all there is to accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior. I really want to take more time on this subject so for the next few blogs we will deal with some of the perhaps lost aspects of making Jesus you real Lord and Savior in the face of still having to live out this life. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
