REALIZING THE DIFFERENCE
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
Patty and I were studying one of the parables of Jesus this morning that pointed directly to the operation of the church which can be seen through the behavior of the Scribe and Pharisees toward Jesus teachings during His Ministry. It is remarkable how difficult it is for us to understand the meaning of these parables to us as a modern Church, and yet they apply more to us today than we think.
The first thing that we need to understand about the words of Christ is that they are the direct words of God the Father to us. They are the only time that God has spent in directly teaching us what the intent of His heart is in a relationship with us. These words like the written accounts of His ministry among us will always have significance and give direction to us no matter how long the period of time has been since we first heard them spoken. We need to also understand that human nature will not change ; therefore the reaction we have to the real truth about life will vary, and it will be responded to in different depths of faith and love. When we begin to look in a new way at the ministry that is given to us. We could spend an enormous amount of time with Matthew 13 and with the various ways that God has taught us about our reactions to God's word given to us in love.
What is it that we want to do with this word...this seed? One of the things we must do is to understand what the seed is all about. The seed is information about the Kingdom of Heaven, and how we can become a part of that Kingdom even while we are still alive in the present body we have. It deals with the very real and most important parts of our life in that we need to choose today who we will serve. We cannot serve God until we can believe that God is real to us. That does not mean just the head knowledge that comes from being exposed to the word, but our reaction to the actual experiencing of God inside of us as He changes us from the inside outward.
There is a marked difference in the way a Christian will approach testimony, witness, and ministry in their life when they are working from a first hand experience of God's power being evidenced within their life. All ministries are saying basically the same things, but not all ministries are showing forth the same conviction and power of God's Spirit. That is due to the ways God is using those in leadership. The difference is found in the kinds of things that are being taught to those who attend fellowship services. The difference is Christ...is Christ being taught or is doctrines of men being taught under the guise of it being the word of God? Once again the only we we can determine that is by watching very closely that we teach and speak nothing that the Holy Spirit does not speak through us. We can not use our own words to express God's inner thoughts, only God's Spirit can speak for Him through us. Even Jesus claimed as a man that He could do nothing without the Spirit of God working through Him. If we realize that first real difference is that we can only be tools used by the Holy Spirit in any way for God's glory, and beyond the first step of taking our requests to God in prayer we should then be in the word and meditating on what He is trying to say to us. We won't hear God if we don't have a space reserved for His control of our lives. I want for us all to take a much closer look at the seeds, soil and the growth of God's Spirit within us. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
