BODY PARTS

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

Almost everyone understands how body parts are supposed to work together to operate something.  Any machine that is designed to function to do a certain work has body parts that function in certain ways to do various jobs.  Some machines do several different functions well while some are designed to do only one thing.

It is unfortunate that within the church we cannot understand that same principal is at work with us.  God has in fact designed the church to operate like a machine in many ways depending on what the work is to do in an area or in a community.  We tend to approach everything that we do like it is our particular job description.  In other words we tend to try to make everything we do have our own signature upon it instead of functioning like a body should all pulling toward and achieving goals that have been set by God's Spirit rather than our own agendas.  1 Corinthians 12:7-10 " Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge, by means of the same Spirit to another faith, by the same Spirit to another the gifts of healing;by that one Spirit to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another discernment, and still to another speaking in tongues or interpretation of tongues"  Instead of trying to separate these gifts through denominations we should be using these gifts as the body of Christ throughout the communities where God has placed us.

We have become so busy fighting one another for our particular gift to be recognized by this world that we have failed to realize that all of these gifts given are for a purpose, and that we are not a body unto ourselves , but a body part that should function together for a common goal.  It is not God's gift to us that separates us from doing that job...it is our doctrinal stances and man made philosophies that have divided us from one another.  This is one of the biggest issues that we as Christians must overcome in the year 2014 if we are to be effective within this world as a power that changes things.  I have long felt that if the church as a whole would stand together instead of apart we would not be able to be stopped by the hatred of this world.  If we work together as a body part of what the church has been designed to be, and if we get self out of the way so that we can function according to what Jesus established us to be there is not power or principality that can stand against the love of God.

We have seen ourselves as individual bodies as churches in Christ, but we are hardly that when we see the global details of what God is doing. If you talk with missionaries in some of the third/world countries you will find that out of necessity these barriers have needed to be broken down, and in many cases those who have been sent abroad for the right reasons have seen the need to join together as brothers and sisters on many occasions to get the job done.  We are not designed to do it all as just one gift or one concept of God, and until we can see that we need one another to do the job right we will continue to suffer loss from fighting with one another.  We can begin to change things in the year 2014 by getting self out of the way and allowing God to take the complete control over our ministries.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
