THE SPIRITUAL WITNESS OF GOD IN MAN- Hebrews 12:1-4
GREETINGS IN THE NAME OF JESUS:
We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses.
Each one of these witnesses testifies to the power of God within their lives when they finally made the decision to give God complete control over their daily activities. Hebrews 12:1-4 explains this in terms much better than I could by saying: " Therefore we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author, and perfector of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will now grow weary and lose heart. In your struggles against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood"
When we read those words it quickly brings us back to the point of seeing ourselves being held down by the weight of this world, and although we reach for God for help it is so often with a clenched fist and a heart so embattled by sin that we cannot concentrate on the terms of our salvation. We must, first of all, open our hand to receive God because He will offer His hand to us but He will not snatch us out of this without our first grabbing His hand.
An active faith in God is not all that difficult to deal with, but it is active in that we are the one who continues to seek after the relationship and desire to be with God above all else. We must understand first of all that God has already done for us all that He will do. The decision is ours now. Do we open our hand to really receive this salvation or do we try to manipulate God in the same ways we do one another? We know from all of these witnesses throughout history that God is real and that faith in Him is something that can be trusted, but it is our decision as to whether we will go all in with our heart, mind, and soul. God has loved us so much as to shed His blood to save us. He has paid the price that we could never be good enough to give. He gave perfect blood sacrifice for us so that we could have the chance to even make this decision. We have to ask ourselves what does that mean to us?....REALLY? It won't mean anything unless we get to know Him enough to see that it is through love that He did that for us?
There isn't any quick answer or short-cut to believe in what God tells us. We may have to struggle a little to come to that place. Some of us may have to even bleed a bit before we can kill off the old man inside that holds us back from a full commitment to Jesus Christ, but that's alright. It is my prayer that you will take the chance to get hurt by the truth enough to be able to see the cause behind what God has done for you. Start to take that chance today. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
