THE PART WE PLAY IN GOD'S WORK THROUGH US- James 1:19-24
GREETINGS IN THE WONDERFUL NAME OF JESUS:
We are in the middle of winter in this physical world, and all around seems to be frozen as we are cloaked in snow. It is a good time for us to sit back and listen to what God is trying to tell us about the times we are living in right now. One thing for sure is we have a much greater part to play in the Plan of Salvation than what we have been doing at this point as children of God. We can; if we will take this time to consider all that God has asked us to help with that well within our power to do in allowing God to work through us every day. It all starts with how we control ourselves instead of trying to control others. James 1:19-24 " My dear brothers take note of this: everyone should be quick to listen and slow to speak, and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. Therefore get rid of all of the moral filth that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted within you that can save you.
Do not merely listen to the word and deceive yourselves, do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks intently into the face of a mirror, and after looking at himself goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But a man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it he will be blessed in what he does."
As simple as this word is to us; if we will think about it for a moment it can have a great impact upon us because it starts with our own self-behavior and control. We don't often let the word of God reflect back to us what can easily be seen about ourselves, and that is the very first place that we need to look if we are going to be successful in allowing God to do any real work through us. My DADDY WOULD HAVE SAID!:" Shut up and listen for a change"... but he was rather direct. It is when we start to genuinely listen to what God is saying to us that we begin to be genuinely changed. I am finding that for a great deal of Christians today there is a great game being played among our brethren about the kind of faith we pretend to have in God. Still when there is any difficulty in this life we tend to at first plead to God for help, but soon turn away to anything else for relief when we are tested. That kind of faith and commitment are not what God calls true belief.
We must first change within ourselves before we can ever share completely with someone else the true meaning of witnessing for the love that Christ has given us by His sacrifice. Simply said " We cannot give something to someone else that we don't have ourselves" My friends it is a very cold world out there, and we are given the task to be light to shine in the dark places, and salt to begin to melt the treacherous ground that people slip and fall on. We are given these talents and these commands to fulfill in Christ's Spirit. That is our main reason for staying behind after we accept Jesus Christ. It is also a test for us to make sure that our faith is not just words of praise to a God we hold at an arm's length from us. Let God's Spirit in to your life for real today. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
