OUR RESPONSIBILITY IN SALVATION
GREETINGS IN THE NAME OF JESUS:
In our study of Romans 9: there is some information brought out for us to consider that has been most often looked over concerning the chosen people of God. Among the first things is that God does not follow the traditions of men, or what we establish as being the right way of doing things. With Abraham and Sarah God had made a promise to bring about a Nation of people through his seed that was so great they could not be counted. While that happened it did not happen in the way that was according to God's plan because of Abraham and Sarah using their own wisdom to introduce Hagar into the mix ( the handmaiden of Sarah) who produced Esau before Jacob was born thus making Jacob the younger brother. According to tradition, it would be Esau who received the blessing from Abraham, not Jacob. Sarah made sure that Abraham in his condition was fooled into thinking that he was blessing Esau when he was actually blessing Jacob. Two mistakes were made by Abraham and Sarah, but the plan that God had put in place was carried out none the less.
The same thing has been true about our inheritance in Christ Jesus because of our man-made traditions and needs for control we have allowed ourselves to think that our relationship with God is controlled by the laws and the traditions we set up rather than by a relationship with God that is entirely Spiritual in nature. It is interesting to realize that very few of the Jews accepted the ministry of Paul, but the Gentiles did and began to make up a large part of the Christian community because they came to Christ without the constraints of tradition, and the desperate need to control what God was doing with the church. Even from the beginning of the promises that God had given to Abraham and Sarah the hand of men had gotten involved and all but messed up the perfect will of God. Today we are given the truth and yet we seem to want to make the truth susceptible to our laws and traditions, which will not work in our favor. God's word is set for all eternity and it cannot and will not be changed. Our will cannot supersede His will, and so the Plan of Salvation that has been given to us will be played out in inits complete form. Our choices are pretty simple; we can accept that God is in charge, or we can reject it, but it does not change the fact that God is still in charge. I believe that is the first step in the process of salvation for us is when we realize just how true that is. Once we get past that big hump in life we can begin to work out our salvation in our relationship with our creator, but not until He is recognized and placed as Lord of who we are and in the center of our existence will we be able to build a relationship with Him.
There are many who are blindly mouthing the words of praise to God who do not know Him because they have yet to understand the fact that He is Lord of Lords and King of Kings. They can say anything they want, but until that fact is established in their lives they will not get passed the praise because they have never accepted Christ. They may be followers, but not the children of God, and that is very sad. We all know people in that condition, and yet we don't have an answer except for them to completely submit to Christ in everything. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
THE UNWORTHY SERVANT
