LOVE: WHAT SHOULD IT LOOK LIKE #2

GREETINGS IN THE NAME OF JESUS:

One of the greatest gifts that God has ever given us is His love. The whole concept of that kind of love is lost in a world that does not consider God to be a factor in life or the pursuit of love.

The really sad part of this is that we don't realize that it is God's love that is holding everything together right now in this world and that in real or complete truth if that love were taken away so would the very breath that we have been privileged to take.  Without realizing it all of our hopes and dreams, desires and plans are useless without the guarantee of that next breath of air.  All we have to do is to think of that the next time we feel that if we can't see something it cannot possibly be real.

The relationship that we have with God is much the same way in that the only real guarantee of life is through the promises that God has made to us in His word.  We often do not consider the cost of any kind of real love in this life. We are told about it, and we see examples of it still every day, but rarely do we come in contact with it personally unless we allow it to penetrate our hearts

I think that is why we need so desperately to hold on to the examples that God has given to us of what love looks like.  We can look at the examples of God's gift to us of life, and each breath we take, but what kind of love would it take to give away the most precious thing we have which is the very life we have in exchange for no guarantee in return?

That is literally the example that God has set for us through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. You see God didn't sacrifice only something that was the dearest to Him...He literally laid down a part of Himself because of the love He has for us.  If God loves me that much how can I help but to love Him that much in return?  More than my earthly father and mother, brothers or sisters, and even more than I love myself.  That is what real love should look like.  It is a quality that is very rare to find today in anyone because we have been fooled by the world into believing that it is a cheap word used to get what we want from someone else.  Real love is not at all cheap because real love is very pricy to give to someone. Real love takes a lot more from us than it takes to receive it, and that is a hard lesson to learn in itself.  All of the sayings we use today about it is better to give than receive are true, but the reality of actually giving real love is the hardest thing you will ever do. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
