THERE IS MORE THAN JUST ONE FILLING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

GREETINGS IN THE NAME OF JESUS:

I believe it is important for us to understand that we need to continually seek after the power of God's Holy Spirit filling our lives on a day to day basis so that we might be able to continue to stand under the tremendous pressure that this world puts on our lives to compromise

Ephesians 5:16-21 speaks to us of not allowing ourselves to live foolishly basically because the days that we are living in are evil.  We as Christians need to act wisely, keep our standards high, and do good whenever and wherever we can.   That means for a great many of us that we need to wake up to what is going on in the world around us.

The words found in Ephesians about being filled is from the Greek tense meaning to be continuously filled with God's Spirit, and always under His influence all of the time.  The reference to being drunk with wine here refers to the old life and the sin influence that we all used to live under.  The only times we can be truly tricked by this world is when we operate under our own wisdom. The Holy Spirit has been sent to us not just to be a comforter, but also a teacher of right and wrong  That will be a constant in our relationship with God; to discern the things of God from the things of this world.  That discernment will cause us to make judgments about things in this world that those around us never would never guess would be a problem for us.  They may look at a circumstance or attitude in this world which we see as sinful as being no more than a progression of society  Paul wrote that indeed we all have come from an attitude in our lives that was accepting of the things of this world as being just life.  We have ourselves been apathetic to the sin that is around us at some time in our life, but now that we live in the light we can see those things for what they are.

The more we live in Christ the more it becomes obvious to us how much sin is around us in this world that simply goes unseen by mankind.  The world has become drunk with its own wisdom which is leading it to death and destruction, and we are the only ones that can see that.  That speaks in a great way to what our responsibility is as Christians really should be? We are the carriers of light into this world by allowing Jesus Christ to shine through us to the world in darkness.  Like it or not we are THE single source of God's light that many people ever see in this world, and that alone gives us a responsibility to share, serve and love through His Spirit.  If we do not then we will continue to see others devoured by the sin and hate of this world.  In our Men's Bible study on Thursdays, we are dealing with Romans which is leading us deeper into an understanding of what Christ taught us about the responsibility of living Christ in front of one another, and how that should cause all of us to desire to serve one another more completely.  I want to send an invite to all of the men in this area to come and join us on a Thursday night at our home at 6:30 p.m. and catch the power we all feel in the Spirit of God through study, council and love for one another in Christ Jesus.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
