LIGHT FROM DARKNESS
GREETINGS IN THE NAME OF JESUS:
Jesus tells us that we should let His light shine through us as we reflect the glory of God the Father all around us during our life.
I really don't think we know how much influence we have on this world each time we step into the public eye. We may intend to show God's love in what we do for one while at the same time causing someone else to be convicted by that same reflection of Jesus to this world. We need to be aware more so of the tremendous amount of seed that some of us plant in this world by sharing some of the experiences we have in Jesus with others. We don't often take the time to see ourselves as perhaps some others may see us. We may well become that pinpoint of light that someone sees barely reflecting truth through a world that is really very dark for them. We may come forth like a ray of truth for someone to prevent them from taking their own life out of despairing.
One of the greatest things about having light is the gift of being able to see things around you clearly enough to judge if they are good or bad, healthy or dangerous to us and that can have life or death results to it. There is always the danger of missing signs that would otherwise warn us of these problems before they cannot be avoided, and while having light does not give us wisdom in dealing with issues it will give us a clear view of things. That is why the light must also be guided by the truth that only God can give us about what we see. So many times as I have thought about this concept of light and dark I have seen the difference in the ways light shines from people to others in life. There is an inherent goodness that is built in people as a gift that is from God simply because we are created in His likeness, but most of the time we fail to see it in one another. I have often asked others if they have ever thought about being a point of light in this world through the design of their life to reflect the light that God shines in them? Sadly to say most have not thought in those terms, and certainly have never set out in a day to do that very thing.
I believe it is very important for us to think outside of the box as Christians instead of in the same train of thought that this world does. Because of that, I want to think a little differently about some scripture in the next few blogs to try to get us into some discussions about how we may have been interpreting the word wrong, and because of that perhaps allowing the world to steal some of the spiritual power we should have had from it. I want to start with the Beatitudes found in Matthew 5: so I pray you will join me. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
