STARTING A SEASON OF THANKSGIVING

GREETINGS IN THE NAME OF JESUS:

There is so much to be thankful for today in spite of all of the difficulty we see around us.  We see pictures in our minds of the Indians of America sharing a meal with the Pilgrims after  having survived a harsh year and a gathering of crops to sustain them through another harsh winter time, but that is a terribly false image  because there was little trust between them then and the reasons for trust did not grow over time.  In fact, the harshness of this world has constantly grown more fierce in the nature of mankind as time has gone on in this country toward those who were here before we were ever known as America.  While it is safe to say that we as a country have always given lip-service to God there has almost always been an element of deceit in that because of mankind's nature toward evil.

SO WHY BE THANKFUL AT ALL?  One of the reasons is because we have been blessed with God's favor even in spite of the nature that we have displayed. Let's face the fact that no one is righteous not even one, and that we would not have lasted as long as we have if we had not at least given God the praise for much that He has done in the development of this country.  Our very lives and safety have been built on the principals that God has given us and has worked through the hearts and minds of the men God chose to use in building this gateway to freedom we now have.

We certainly are not alone in our admiration of God's work in this country; of all of the rights, we have been given to pursue happiness and freedom to live and worship. ( That concept is where it all started)  When we have it all the way we have it is easy to think that the whole world feels the same ways about life as we do, but it takes going out into the world to see what is there to realize what we do have.  All that we have we owe to God in our daily lives including the very breath of air we just took.  The fact is that we are never alone when Jesus dwells within each one of us through the power of His Spirit.  It is that Thankfulness that I have today as I prepare for the Holidays. This year when we gather around a table for Thanksgiving meal time let's hold on to each other's hands as we pray and realize the warmth that flows between us let's be thankful that God has chosen to dwell in us, through us, and around us this year.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
