INCREASING OUR FAITH
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
Jesus spoke openly and frankly about our faith in the message that He had been given to spread to us . In the scripture of Luke 16:19-31 Jesus told His disciples about a rich man and a beggar. While living the beggar lay at the gate of the rich man and begged for food, eating scraps from the table of the rich man, but the rich man ignored his needs and his life.
The beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried and woke in the torment of Hell. Seeing the beggar at Abraham's side he pleaded for Abraham to send the beggar to dip his finger into the water and place a drop on his tongue. When Abraham told the rich man it was impossible because there was a great gap between them that could not be breached the rich man begged for Abraham to send someone to tell his brothers about the truth of what Hell is. verse 30-31 " No father Abraham he said but if someone from the dead goes to them they will repent, and Abraham said to him If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead".
Our faith is grown through an opened heart to the word of God, and in Luke 17:5 we must increase our faith to avoid such a disaster as we see in this account. People often ask me about why I use the pen name The Unworthy Servant, but in Luke 17:10 it says " so you also when you have done everything you wer told to do, should say, We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty".
It is our job to increase our faith through constant contact with the Father through prayer in the Holy Spirit, and to continue to encourage one another to do good. If we have obeyed God we have only done our duty and we should regard it as a privilege. Do you sometimes feel that you deserve extra credit for serving God? Remember that obedience is not something extra we do, it is our duty as citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven. It is our duty out of our love for God and our commitment to His ways. We bend our will to serve God as a gift given back to Him for the love that He has shown to us when we were as yet so unworthy.
I feel the way Paul spoke toward the end about his life as he said " my life is poured out like clear water on the ground". We must be willing to give all that we are and all that we have to the love we share with Christ. In doing that we give God the purest love we have. It becomes a perfected love that is given from our heart to His heart, and God knows that He can trust that from us. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
