MEDITATION AND PRAYER
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
There is a verse found in Proverbs 20:27 " The lamp of the Lord searches the spirit of a man; it searches out his inmost being." This gives me an indication as to what God looks for within me as we try to communicate in a more relevant way.
I hear a lot from people about prayer today and how we need so desperately to pray more, but there is so much more to God than simply talking at Him about our needs. God is looking for a deeper relationship from those who really want to love and please Him. God is looking for that spiritual connection from us that allows us to fully communicate with Him; that means having a two way conversation. More so than not we are only told to talk to God, but very few times are we instructed how to listen to Him as He tries so desperately to speak to us. We need to understand that we must prepare our hearts before we go before God to hear what He is telling us. This is different than just a quick word that we may have with Him in passing during the day. I have heard people tell me how they are in a state of prayer all day long, but that is still not sitting down with God for a conversation where we intend to speak and ask, then listen for what God is saying to our hearts.
It is that kind of hearts intent toward real communication with God that He longs for. It is the kind of conversation that Jesus had with the Father everyday of His life, and I believe it is that kind of communication that Jesus refers to when He speaks to people as having "such little faith". The more time we spend in seeking after God the more of God we will find within our life. I can tell you that I don't do nearly enough of it! I can still hear God as He speaks often to me during a day, but it is because in some way I am listening closely for His voice to me through different things. I have learn ed that I need to be in some state of meditation with God most of the time for me to hear His voice speak clearly.
To be honest with you when I started this process some 20 years ago or so I thought I had to be in a secluded room or place where there was no other distractions around me to keep my mind from concentrating on Him; and when I first started I was right! The noise and the influence of this world drowned out the voice of God to my heart so much that the only thing I could do was isolate myself from the world around me. I had to get by myself in the darkest and most isolated part of the house with no sound because that's all I knew to do. What I didn't know at that time was that God's voice would become so strong within me that I could hear His still small voice amid the screaming of this world in my ear...I just had to train myself to listen to Him. I guess the real success of it is hoow much do you want to hear from God in your life? Depending upon your intent of heart and your willingness to train yourself to hear His voice you will do what it takes to hear Him and be consistent with it everyday of your life you will be able to speak with Him and hear what He has to say as well. You simply have to be willing to pay that price both to be separate from this world and in the presence of God the Father. If you want to speak to me further about this I am always available to you. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
