BUILDING UPON THE FOUNDATIONS ALREADY SET BY CHRIST
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
When we begin to build a relationship with Christ we also automatically begin to build our life and our future based upon the kind of thoughts and beliefs that we build that relationship with. I believe that we are responsible for the ways we grow our attitudes and beliefs. In fact Christ actually tells us in so many ways that we have a pivotal part in the discernment of what we take into our lives to be truth. I really think that there are a tremendous number of cases where creeds or doctrines are introduced to people who have accepted Christ through various ministries, but who have taught a brand of Christianity rather than teaching the Good News that Christ taught.

As we build our life on the principals of our belief in Christ as the Son of God, as well as upon the truth that He has given us through the Holy Spirit we are charged as well to grow and to mature in our knowledge and ability to discern the difference between a truth and a lie. When we begin a relationship with God we are told in the word that if we will put God first before all other things that He will add unto our lives all that we need. Jesus underscores this by telling us about God's care for the world around us. The Lilly's of the field and the Birds of the air are prime examples that we should not worry about tomorrow, but we should live for each day. We have much less control than we are being told by the world around us. God intends for us to grow up and to bear spiritual fruit.
With this much encouragement to grow and mature God also tells us that unless we do take our relationship with Him seriously we should expect to have a great amount of trouble in finding the kind of spiritual power to live for God. I can tell you without any doubt that those who struggle today in their relationship with God do so because they feel they still need to control it. I know also that this may seem to contradict itself when I say to give God the complete control, and to be responsible to bear spiritual fruit, but there is an element that we do not realize in this: We are called to become transformed by the renewing of our minds and hearts through the power of God's Holy Spirit. Unless we allow God to take control of who we are we will never be willing to bear spiritual fruit through God's Spirit or to become one with Him as He has requested that we do.
It is that battle that is waged each and every day with this life because the very things that our soul longs for us to do is what we do not do because of the longings of this flesh. It is what Paul meant when he said " The things I would do are the things I do not do, and what I would not do are the very things I do." It is that very war that we are in constantly in this life that causes the angels to marvel at us. We are made for this struggle, to make this single decision about our relationship with the Father.
It is extremely important then that we begin to understand what our role really is in this plan of salvation that is offered to us. Ultimately when all issued ad done it will be our individual decision made to either be with and obey God's call to our heart; or to reject the things He has offered to us for the temporary and false promise of this world to live for self. We accept a free foundation from Christ to build upon, and then we begin to make the choices of what we place on that foundation, and how we build. We choose the materials that we build with, at some point those materials and things we have used to build our life with will be put to the test by God to see what quality they really are.
I can tell you that there will be many who will be disappointed because what they have used to build their life on will be burnt away, and they will have nothing left except for the foundation of their belief in Christ left. I pray that we can all see the need to get involved in our personal growth in Jesus teachings. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
