MAKING OUR CHRISTIAN LIVES RELEVANT / PART ONE
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
Many people want to make their Christian lives more relevant to the world that surrounds them everyday. It matters very little if it is at work or play; it is simply getting more difficult each day to make what we see around us make any sense to the word of God. We cannot physically leave this place to be a part of the Kingdom of Heaven, but instead we are being called on to bring that Spiritual Kingdom into our world. For a great many people it is hard enough to simply exist in one kingdom ( this world) but now we are called too set these two Kingdoms in front of us and to make a choice about them.
If we are caught up in the daily struggle of this life we can never find a way to make a final choice or a determination about how much focus we are going to give one or the other.. While we are told in scripture that we are in this world , but not to be a part of it we still are called on to remain here and live our lives within it. I am finding that there are not that many people to can live live well under that concept or who can understand it, We do not understand the complexity of all of the lessons that God is trying to teach us about life., and for most people the day to day grind of simply surviving is almost more than we can deal with when it is just one thing at a time. Remember the word I used earlier DETERMINATION? What that really is deals with setting our mind to do a certain thing or it can be called a MIND-SET. That is what the disciples had to do when Jesus gave them the goal of spreading the Gospel that He had preached all over this world.
It is this Mind-set that enabled the early church to actually position itself to a change through the complete surrender to the Holy Spirit that God was able to bring forth and manifest His power through them. There are actually two schools of thought on our surrender to Christ. 1. Takes the consideration that Christ already knows what what we are going to do so we should simply set back and let God do His work through us. Many of those simply sit down and wait for God to do what He wants, and in the mean time they are doing nothing to seek change within their lives. I liken this mind set to the servant who buried the treasure given to them so that they would not lose it and be able to return it when the Lord came back. The Lord has told us that "if we seek to save our life we will loose it, but if we seek to loose our life for His sake we will indeed save it" This tells me that we have a very great part to play in the mind-set that allows us to seek after God with our whole heart, mind, and strength in life. 2. There is a clear call for us to take action in our life to seek after God which is in the original intent behind the forgiveness of original sin so that we might walk and talk with God just as Adam and Eve once did. It is this Mind-set that calls for us to take chances to increase God's worth in our lives. As we seek God we study to show ourselves approved to be worthy servant who want to be of more value to the Father. We become more closely tied to God as was Jesus through the efforts made to seek God first. This is not an effort to do good works to try to earn our way by any means, but it is the fruit of God's Spirit from within us that is shown as a bi-product of our relationship with Jesus in the same way the Synagogue leadership took note of the disciples ability to stand before the Sanhedrin and give account for their faith in Christ. Not because they were learn ed men in scripture or trained ; but because they had been with Jesus and His Spirit could be felt at work within them.
Jesus spoke of the two kingdoms in these terms: He said " My Kingdom is not of this world". The reality of that statement is that if Christ's Kingdom is not of this world then neither should our Kingdom be of this world. The reference to these two separate kingdoms is so strong by Christ that is should be evident that we should be in preparation to let go of this kingdom and cling to the one that God is creating. It is a Spiritual Kingdom that will live forever more just as we will. If we want to know if we will live forever; that ship has already sailed WE WERE CREATED IN OUR SOUL TO LIVE FOREVER! The question is where and how will we live? So we begin the conversation concerning the relevance of our Christian lives. I pray that you stay with us as we dig a little deeper. May you richly bless God through your liife in Him.
